If it works it works. ;)
Another method I tried and liked was to just wrap a couple loops of thread around the air holes (just above the threads) and knot it. So small even with the tank off it's hard to see and works great, just add or subtract loops to adjust the air flow to taste.
That is just the nature of the beast. With the coil being at the bottom there is some condensation that will collect on the top of the battery because it's so close.
As for the infamous protank gurgle, that happens at the top of the replaceable head tube about 1/2 way up the air tube. Simplest...
Congratulation, you just advanced to the next level of RBA mastership. lol
Glad you figured it out and it was an easy fix and thanks for keeping us posted, will probably help someone else when the time comes.
Sounds like you need some of those little keyring locator beepers, just glue one to your next vamo and it will (hopefully) never get lost.
Of course finding the beeper remote to activate it might be a whole different problem. :p
Dang, wish I could offer more help but just have not run into this problem myself yet (crosses fingers, toes and eyes).
My first thought was having a hot spot in the coil, commonly can be caused by not wrapping tight enough (outside loop not in contact with juice to keep it cool enough to work)...
