    How to make USB Passthrough?

No, no. When I say I chopped it up, I mean I tore it open to look at what color wire connected to what pin, so I could match it up with a USB pinout diagram. I'm sure I can rummage through my box of miscellaneous cables and find one, but it sounds like the real answer is to take the 510 atomizer...

    How to make USB Passthrough?

Ralph: I also tried it with an AC USB adapter. The output specs are 5-12v - 1A Max. But are you saying this is just for 510 atomizers, and other models don't have the same problem? mnealtx: And of course I just chopped up a female USB connector I had left over from making the PT. Ugh.

    How to make USB Passthrough?

So I just did this, but I get nothing. I have continuity and no shorts. Any ideas on why it's not working? I tried it on different USB ports on different computers, and an external USB power supply. Nothing. Am I supposed to do anything with the green and blue wires?

etip: Nice work on that mod, by the way. How's it working out? I can't tell where you connected the wires to the PPUMINI. Looks like the red is connected to one of the USB leads, but the black seems to be going to the circuit board?

Is there a better option for 5v power regulation?

Scott, my initial look at BECs is leaving me confused. It seems they just split the power from the battery to multiple devices. So in a mod, 7.4v hits the BEC, which splits it into 5v for the atomizer, and the other 2.4v goes...where? Back into the battery? Also, I couldn't find any buck...

    lenmore power port sale 9.99

ctourtelot: Do you know if you have the PPUMINI-K or PPUMINI-M? I still don't have anything working with the PPUMINI-M, because I'm still building. I am a bit concerned that the M might not have enough power, while the K does. We'll see once I'm done modding, though.

    Very basic electrical wiring question

Awesome, thank you all. It sounds like two batteries, and two atomizers (both in parallel) is the way to go. Ralph, the reason I don't want to go with a bigger battery is that I'm trying to keep it in a 3xAA box.

Cool, thanks. So that's an RCA connector on there? I suppose I stand corrected. :-) Can you still screw it shut, or do you just rely on the tension to keep it in place? Just remember to take the atomizer out when you put it in your pocket. I made this mistake a few times. Usually, I just got a...

    Very basic electrical wiring question

So I'm looking to power two atomizers at the same time for my next mod. I'm thinking that I need to wire the atomizers in parallel, but I'm wondering if that will be enough voltage to drive both of them. So, my questions would be: 1. Will two atomizers in parallel work with one 3.7v battery? 2...

Suggestions for 5v batteries and cases

Thanks, mnealtx! I'm still very new at this, and that one was the first time I ventured away from the tutorials and just created my own from scratch, so I'm pretty proud of it. My imagination exceeds my electrical know-how by quite a bit, so I've got about a dozen mods I haven't figured out how...

    lenmore power port sale 9.99

etip: Sounds good! Any pictures of your mod? As to the matte/shiny finish, I'm thinking that's probably an issue with when they were manufactured, not the model, because my PPUMINI-Ms all have a rubberized finish. So if my new Ms have that finish, and your new Ks have that finish, that's...

Kr-808D1 NicoStick (Nebula, Vapor King, Easy Cig)

You're right, I guess I misunderstood how the RCA system worked. I thought you had to make at least a semi-permanent change to the atomizer. If that's not the case, then, yes, most of my objections don't stand. The most important one for me, though, is that I really don't like how they look...

Is there a better option for 5v power regulation?

Great info, Dave. Thanks. When you say I'd need to "design a circuit around it," what exactly do you mean? Something along the lines of adding resistors and other external components? Or something more involved? I went ahead and ordered the TI part you referenced. I'll read through the...

For myself: 1. I don't want to have to mod every atomizer I want to use. 2. I want to use my atomizers on regular batteries every now and again. 3. I don't like the look of the RCA connectors, and they add extra length. 4. I like making new, specialty mods, and the RCA connectors won't...

Is there a better option for 5v power regulation?

My electronic know-how is pretty limited -- it comes mostly from a half-remembered class in high school and what I've read on the forums here, so I could use some advice. I like the TI 5v regulator, and I got my 5 free samples. But I don't like that it wastes energy, and I have a lot of mods...

    lenmore power port sale 9.99

So I finally (too late) have come to the bottom of the whole sale issue. It seems that the PPUMINI-K was on sale for $10, but only until 10/17. Then the PPUMINI-M was on sale for $13, but only until today (10/24). However, I found a site where you can get the PPUMINI-K online for $15 shipped.

So what batteries are out there?

Since it seems like it might be useful in planning mods, I've been trying to determine what cylindrical rechargeable batteries are for sale. So far, I've found: 10440 (AAA size) - 3.7v 14250 (LS1425, 1/2 AA size) - 3.6v 14430 (4/5 AA size) - 3.7v 14500 (AA size) -3.7v 14650 - 3.7v 14670...
