    With the Uniq sitting idle, the only thing (in my opinion) that could drain the battery is the circuit board, which is constantly connected to the battery. Two things that I didn't try (sorry, senior moment) is to insert a fresh battery and turn the unit OFF, and/or to insert a fresh battery...
