M1 and M2 are adjustable temperature presets, you adjust the tcr from the menu. Does the wattage fluctuate and do you hit the temperature protected message when you're using the m2 coils?

I change my cotton every two or three weeks, sometimes longer, and recoil once in a blue moon, when I get bored. I use ss and tc so the wicks last a long while and the coils hardly deteriorate.

It doesn't really work like that. If you check steam-engine you'll notice that identically wrapped ss and kanthal coils have similar heat flux and heat capacity at the same power level.

Are you sure those are actually ss wire? Doesn't state so on the Smok site and I've seen kanthal coilheads with an ss marking simply because the housing is ss (Kanger...)

1.3.2 is the programming tool, not the firmware. Unfortunately I don't believe there's gonna be any new firmwares beyond 1.2.11 :-/

The lower resistance really isn't a problem. The amp draw is calculated from watts so at the same wattage you won't be drawing any more amps even though the resistance is lower.

1.2.11 is the latest (and looks to be the final) firmware. I wouldn't recommend upgrading though. My Alien worked better with the 1.2.1 firmware, whereas 1.2.2 and 1.2.11 are both worse. A shame that I can't find the original firmware anywhere :-/

Ohm readers won't be any better than most regulated mods. In fact, on regulated mods you can adjust the power, whereas on ohm readers you can't and therefore risk overstressing the batteries if you fire a very low build.

The tc on the Alien is not very good anyway. I use it in tc, but my build can handle fairly high power. The tc on mine is pretty much only a worst case scenario safety limit.

For me they do. Granted, I don't use my Picos as much as my rx200, Alien, or Predator. The tc on Wismec/Eleaf/Joyetech mods works much better than the tc on the Alien.

On a regulated mod the resistance of the coil doesn't factor into the amp draw, watts do. With a 20-amp battery (LG hg2, Samsung 30q, Samsung 25r etc) you're good up to about 60w, no matter the resistance of the coil.
