Apparently, lasers are either a food or drug now.

There's no way around FDA regulation - lasers have the potential to be hazardous. If that's not enough of a reason for you, its often a medical device (laser surgery, etc). So the CDRH division of the FDA sets the safety regulations. The FAA and OSHA follow CDRH standards, and have their...

Apparently, lasers are either a food or drug now.

At 5mW it can burn the retina and cause irreparable damage. More powerful units can burn skin. These issues are enough to allow FDA involvement. And something that should sound familiar... a lot are made in China and sold online. Surprise, surprise, they don't all have the mandated safety...

    Vaping in Wal-Mart.

I hate to break it to you, but they most definitely can set off smoke detectors. There are more than one type, and they have different triggers. You have the ionization type at home. CaSH already tested it on a plane and set it off; I'm assuming the detector was PE.

Apparently, lasers are either a food or drug now.

It's because of damage to the retina if 5mW or higher is viewed for as little as a quarter second. It takes about that amount of time for the eye respond with a protective blink, so it's cutting it close, and something that can happen. For someone with a condition that delays blinking longer...

    Don't waste your juice!!!

8-oToo gross for me - I stocked cigarettes the same way I stockpile my hardware and juice. Always had a pack in the glove box, and backup cartons at home and work. My idea of when to buy more was when I was down to 4 or 5 cartons!

POLL: Electronic Users Organization - New Name

Personally, I'm glad to see none of the top choices include any form of the word 'vape'. In spite of it being the term we use here, it's come up in several threads that it just doesn't sound good, and isn't likely to give outsiders a warm, fuzzy feeling about what we do.

    Prescription nicotine inhaler???

The you had more success than I had. All they did for me was get me through flights, and postpone my morning smoke for an hour. They are pitiful. LOL, anyone want some? I have enough for around three years taking up space in my basement.

How Did You Come Up With Your Name and Avitar?

Obama was a teenager when I got mine. It's a bird flying toward a star and only about 2" long. Yeah, it hurt when the colors were being filled in. The border went pretty easily. But my little tat only took one sitting.

How Did You Come Up With Your Name and Avitar?

Mine is the namesake of a Robert Hunter tune, Ramble On Rose. In the lyrics she's 'just like' many people and things that should conflict - but don't, because people and life are ever changing. There's no single right way and no single right answer. Life and our role in it changes, and we...

    510 best atties and juice

I'm not sure what makes you say that cold vapor is a major complaint - the 510 is known for heavy vapor (once the atty is broken in), and some people don't like that the higher heat that helps give such good vapor reduces the flavor.

Poll: Highest price you ever paid for a pack of smokes...

I remember packs at .35 and cartons @$2.99. But we'd wait until the Sunday paper came out, as there was always a $1 coupon.

    It has begun...

No double whammy for MickeyD... they stopped using oil with transfats. All that's left is the little bit that's in beef naturally. Another win for our nanny government. So how will they fund their pet projects when all our sins have been banned or taxed into oblivion?

    the "Pros" of the e-cig

Y'all covered so much it's hard to come up with anything to add. Housecleaning - so much easier without brown crud on everything. Furniture, walls & ceilings don't all turn yuck colored. I won't have to paint ceilings every few years. No more worries about a lit cigarette when I leave the...

The other guy asked "why not reverse the idea and make a dual sized atty chamber". I guess I don't understand what one of you guys are asking for.

    Merged old sticky threads (7)

Check back on page one, where it's been asked and answered. Apparently it's not easy. The Twinbox doesn't entice me. I'll stay with my Stick, and will look at whatever you guys come out with in the future that uses stock batteries. I bet if you can up with a sealed finish that doesn't come...

    Reunion! Ratz!

TY : ) Yep, it was the rage! Along with bellbottom hiphuggers and wearing pants or even bluejeans to school instead of skirts. I think even a couple of years made a difference in what influenced us during those crazy times... things were changing soooo quickly. Interesting timing you had with...

    Reunion! Ratz!

This is the only pic I can find from '69. My mom had a flip, so did some of the older girls - but my friends and I were doing the long haired thing. A year later the boys' hair was almost as long as ours!
