    Different Cottons for different wicks

That full cotton taste you mention is from singeing or burning. It takes a bit of practice to learn how to set up organic wicks so they taste completely clean. Something I found important with using cotton is the type of atomizer, some are just a pain and others a piece of cake to figure out...

    Different Cottons for different wicks

Take a piece of said cotton, bring it into the flame slowly. If it looks like it's melting that means synthetic fibers. Should be a clean yellow flame if all cotton. Blow it out, now examine the char. Pure cotton char feels as soft as the un burnt cotton. The biggest give away is if the char is...

Another thing people should know is not all brands are created equal. Two different companies might be weeved different even though it may be the sold as the same product. So don't right something off as being bad material when a different brand could make all the difference. When talking about...

    Different Cottons for different wicks

Yeah, from my own experience I have noticed that the types of cotton to most leary about are ropes, twines, yarn. Basically anything that's weeved because a lot of companies will use 5% polyester, rayon or nylon to give it durability and makes production easier. I have bought twine that says...

    Different Cottons for different wicks

Whatever cotton you use: 1. Burn test- make sure there aren't any synthetic fibers 2. Boil- removes unwanted sizing/bleaching chemicals during processing (let dry completely) 3. Soak- Let juice soak into the wick for at least an hour before vaping

12 volts... so you could crank that baby up to 10.6 volts at 6 amps? I wouldn't let my friends play with it. lol

    Different Cottons for different wicks

Well It had only been about an hour of soak time and both my VN's with the 36 awg kanthal are vaping just great with no singe flavor at all. Before with the 33 awg kanthal I had to soak for a couple hours and it would still have that hot cotton flavor for a little while but with the 36 awg it's...

    Different Cottons for different wicks

I just got done taking apart and cleaning all the parts on both of my vivi mini novas, still my go to atties besides the drunker. Welded nr wire legs to 36 awg kanthal for both coils with cotton rounds. I'm really enjoying the thinner awg r-wires. They have instant heat response which means...

Even after getting everything perfect with ss mesh I find the flavor just doesn't come through like cotton. I read that some people with sensitive palets find mesh mutes flavor. Just keep trying different things like JD mentioned and you'll find what works for you.

    Resistance-No Resistance wire welder

If you read the thread you'd see that most of us have built wire welders out of the flash circuit. lol

    Different Cottons for different wicks

Cotton is a different animal than silica and ss mesh. With silica and mesh the wick material is meant to be able to stand extreme temperatures. With cotton its absorbency and capillary action provides enough cooling and temperature control to keep things at less than burning temperatures.

    Inside the Drunker Tank

Yes the wick goes down into the tank then wrapped around the positive post. The coil is pressed against the wick, rather than going through the coil. It's a method that works primarily with genesis style atties as cotton can be tricky with those.

Did a test, I made a solid weld of 33 awg kanthal to a 3mm thick stainless steel pin. Opens up applications for welding my coil into place onto my home built atomizer.

    Different Cottons for different wicks

Seems the cotton rounds are getting more and more attention/use. My goal origonally was to gain insight for everyone the different types of cotton and how they perform. I think the most important thing that has helped people turn to cotton has been the importance of soak time. Below is cotton...

Clean deliscious vapor, about as clean of flavor as I have experienced with out of all wick types.

Nope, it's a thick sewing needle which is about the same exact size as a tooth pick. I have been collecting needles of all sorts of thickness for different coils. I wasn't telling you what to do by the way, didn't mean it to sound that way.

Also if your yarn has a funny taste, have you done a burn test on it? I have some cotton twine that says 100% cotton that tasted weird later to do a burn test to find synthetic fibers.
