    I use unflavored but any juice could work...also the amount of cotton needed is small. Did you watch a youtube or two as you may be using too much cotton.     well there are 2 things that come to mind....1st off did you saturate the cotton coil before use ? I drip a drop of unflavored on the coil before replacing the chimney and grommet. If not you burned the coil and will need to replace the cotton. 2nd...I always boil the cotton balls 3 separate...

    Dry Burning PT coils---burning smell ok?

    there is a rubber insulator that keeps the wires of the coil separate on the bottom of the protank coils...it is possible to burn that insinuator if you dry burn excessively...I dry burn regularly and have only burned 2 insulators. I can smell burning everytime I dry burn
