    PDIB's Making MODs!

Speaking of plywood... spectra ply stuff is pretty amazing, and cheap too! It's the trim on my cocobola mod, and for plywood, really beautiful stuff: http://www.woodcraft.com/category/4/2083034/2084517/SpectraPly%20Turning%20Blanks.aspx

You kidding? I'm not letting him see that... he's already got more guitars than I have mods, he doesn't need more, uh uh!

$75 is less than what a lot of people have spent for lesser dyed blocks in bidding wars on ebay... for one of the best woods in the world. Just saying:). Your guitar is sick looking! My husband would go nuts (he collects guitars too). He's got a Fender that color, but not with the contrasting...

I just saw a purple heart guitar back... beautiful:). I found some cocobola chunks you may want to look at... but while I was looking at this cocobolo: Bowl Turning Blanks | Tropical Exotic Hardwoods I found THIS (Mexican Kingwood... which is a true rosewood supposedly)... look at THAT purple...

I'm curious about your purple heart guitar... are you sure it's actual purple heart wood... or is it a dyed/stabilized purple wood? Because the 2 are different, and that is a VERY easy purple color to dye, and that dye would never fade either.

I was pretty gaga about purple heart at first too... but it's only OK... look at my pix of the mods (in case someone takes them out). Just my opinion that it's not a good enough wood to make a dibi from...

Sorry  But given the amount of work that pdib puts into these, you want a wood that will last a few generations:p.

I have 2 purple heart mods, and the color IS purple... but from everything I have read, it will eventually turn brown. The grain isn't all that great, looks cracky, and just overall doesn't seem like a great idea for long-term because the claim to fame is the color, and the color doesn't last...

I didn't see that, maybe we should just give up and call it the Peter Dibi... (since pdib seems to be trying to confuse you here). :D

    PDIB's Making MODs!

That's because despite our love for all things pdib, the name 'Oliver' is just terrible for many punny reasons as SuperTrunker already pointed out. Besides, only 1 person got an Olivewood dibi, making the rest of us jealous and therefore resistant to paying homage to that guy's dibi, even tho we...
