    that brass screw head is a contact point connected to the switch and that black insulator missing tells me that it might be arcing from that brass screw head to the body of the mod.

    the battery should feel a tiny bit warm if was just being used. but the warmth should go away seconds after you get the battery out. if it feels warm or hot for more than like 30 seconds that tells me you are drawing to much power from the battery.
