    Extracting from other than tobacco

I buy PG and VG here: http://www.essentialdepot.com/. Most pharmacies and some farm supply stores carry PG. Hey we're all amateurs here and I haven't tried a juice from from anyone here that was as bad as some vendor juices!:D

    Extracting from other than tobacco

Rex, I use PG for extracting as it filters much easier than VG. Most extracts will used at 10 to 20% to make juice so you can still achieve a fairly high VG mix. I understand some folks are allergic to PG and I am somewhat sensitive to high PG mixes myself, but a 100% PG extraction has worked...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

I'm pretty sure Scarf's Dunhill Early Morning was a cold maceration. It was much lighter than most she did anyway and it was damn good! I did a heated extraction of the same blend and it didn't measure up. Pretty sure I got it too hot and may try it again with a cold soak. Scarf also...

    Extracting from other than tobacco

Extracting the flavor from hops should be very similar to extracting the flavor from tobacco. I use the a room temp maceration, just covering the plant material with PG and let it soak for a month in a mason jar with lid. Others use a heat assisted method that places the jar in warm water...

    Cold maceration of tobacco

Warming should help. Sorry I can't be more help but all I use is PG.

    Cold maceration of tobacco

VG will work for extraction but filtering is harder and slower. I don't know how you could properly filter an all VG extract without applying a vaccume. There are other threads here that discuss this issue. Good luck.

    Cold maceration of tobacco

Blend selection can be daunting given the huge number of good tobaccos available. I've read and studied for hours and hours! It's funny that when I smoked it was almost always the same thing over and over for many years. Now I love having 20+ blends to alternate!:)

    Cold maceration of tobacco

Another good cigarette type blend to check out is Peter Stockebye 80 Norwegian Blend. I have some that Bill extracted and it's quite good. Also, a very good Virginia/Perique is Hearth and Home Louisiana Red. I have that one extracting now and will send some if you want to try it.

    Cold maceration of tobacco

I started to tell you I thought that would happen but part of the fun of home brewing is tasting the changes as they happen. It seems like all tobacco extracts go through that change, gaining impact. Mixed juice also takes a few days to come together. So are you liking the American Spirit?

    Cold maceration of tobacco

I figured so but thought it might be worth a try. When I filter, first through a coffee filter it is slow, 11 micron filter paper: medium, then it goes fairly quickly through the 6 micron. I'm in no hurry so if the 2.5 micron paper will flow even slowly, I'll be happy. If not, I'm satisfied...

    Cold maceration of tobacco

I've wondered if your windowsill macerations suffered any. When I get around to extracting some hops, I'm keeping the stuff in the dark for sure.

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

No refrigeration here either. I try to keep extracts in opaque glass or HDPE bottles and store in a reasonably cool, dark place.

    Cold maceration of tobacco

Some plant material held in suspension, can react with sunlight and create strange flavors. Don't know if this happens to any detectable level with tobacco but it sure as hell does with hops. Skunky beer anyone?

    Cold maceration of tobacco

I prefer straight up or mildly flavored tobacco vapes so if I want one flavored I get a blend with flavor infused. If you like various flavors, you are right Paul, add post extraction. Much simpler.

    Cold maceration of tobacco

No to using booze in my extractions. I'm an alcoholic in recovery (13 years) so probably won't try that. There are plenty of flavored tobacco blends available so I add nothing else. The lab filters you linked are fine. I use 15 cm diameter and fold to fit into a funnel. Google how to fold...

    Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux

Just looking for affordable method(s) to get the extract as clean as possible without sacrificing flavor. Most coffee filters will permit some particulates through, up to 20 microns in size. My last stage is 6 micron filter paper so theoretically the extract should be "cleaner". I have some...
