    To allow for thermal movement, doesn't need to be any tighter. Never had one leak. Nothing to do with any hot spots.

    Cut 4" (5" if you are doing it for the first time) Kanthal wire off. This is for 28ga Kanthal. Stick in drillbit. Note the wire has a spooled curve. Fasten one end of wire to "inside" of neg screw so about half an inch sticks through and run the wire on the outside and against the drill bit...

    That's to help oxidize SS mesh to prevent shorts. You don't need to do that for ceramic as it's not conductive. If anything, it might inhibit wicking.

    Ya, seems similar. Lack of adequate airflow into the tank can also restrict juice wicking up to the coil. You didn't indicate if you are doing any better now. Kanthal & Nico are your options, but I doubt using either makes any difference as far as getting your juice vaporized. I've dumped SS...
