Bad News, With a Silver Lining?

It's not gone, it's just that there are newer articles now. Look on the right hand side of the page for the links to recent articles and select the one starting with "IN MY VIEW"

North Cal SFATA new PR campaign

Great package - Kudos to the Vaping Education Council (VEC)!

Change {dot} org petition for congress to reject the deeming regs

Signed, even though I was a little concerned about sharing address email etc. (Wanted to demonstrate that I was serious about the issue - Do they even count Canadians?). I don't do Facebook, so couldn't "share" - but wish the best of luck!

Someone just literally bombed ADV about an hour ago

Wow! This is unusual for "quiet" Canada! I'll be watching to find out if there is some logical explanation for such an illogical act.

Minor ANTZ org, ATS, tries to portray vaping science as quackery

Reading "State of Fear" years ago actually primed me to approach the politically motivated "junk science" about e-cigarettes with a healthy dose of scepticism.

The Truth About Vaping television ad coming!

If each and every one of us took the energy derived from our frustration/anger/disgust about the way smokers and vapers have been treated and sent just one email (copied to every person in their local state or provincial legislature) professionally and politely stating facts - we could change...

I HATE this - email from Kaiser Permanente received today

OMG! Do you guys actually pay that much extra in "taxes" to get health care? My monthly premium (that my employer actually pays) is like $79 for a single person - and not too much more if you happen to have a family of four.

An(other) article in The Spectator in favour of Vaping.

Learned a new word today - I like it! Panjandrum noun 1. a pompous self-important official or person of rank

The Truth About Vaping television ad coming!

Well, I'm really proud and amazed with her efforts. I may not agree with everything she says, but my God, she is doing something - and I believe/hope making a difference. It is fabulous when you can apply your talents to something that is truly important to you. Big cheers lovey and please keep...

Nicotine addictivity questioned in Tobacco Control journal

I'm still having trouble understanding why anyone thinks that a relatively harmless way for human beings to produce a little more dopamine is a "bad thing". Aren't we supposed to be persuing "happiness"? There sure as heck are enough cortisol producing events in most of our lives.

Quit smoking, live 5 years less

Hey Kent, Interpretation please. Are you intimating that I "sit on the fence"? Let me make my position clear - raised as a Catholic, I would tend to view any religion (note not necessarily spiritual leaning) as hypocritical. Been there, done that, seen the consequences (and they're not pretty)...

Quit smoking, live 5 years less

Come on now, possibly (having read many of your posts, probably) your comment is either "tongue in cheek" or outright sarcasm. My post was about true astonishment. I really can't imagine that any logical person would actually dismiss evolution and choose to "read" spiritual texts as literal and...

Quit smoking, live 5 years less

EDIT: Assuming of course, you believe that evolution brought us here Just saw that comment. Oh my God (s/he happens to be universal), is that actually still a question among people who promote science and evidence based policy making?

Quit smoking, live 5 years less

I truly believe that stress is the big killer. All of the "self-medicating" with caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, "other" substances, endorphins produced by "intimate encounters", running and sports is simply human beings staying true to the survival imperative. Force Puritanism and you condemn many...

New publication by Peter Hajek: from ‘nicotine replacement’ to ‘smoking replacement’

Fabulous essay. Right on the money! I will pass this on to the BC legislature that (even though they obviously have no idea what they were regulating - considering that their mandate is a "Smoke free BC) recently passed an act that simply added "vapour products" to the Tobacco Control Act. Don't...

The most scathing post from Dr Siegel on new ALA position on vaping

Perhaps this is a case of degrees. I see "free market" as one unfettered by regulation/taxation, and "perfect market" as the unobtainable economic construct of all investors having all information available such that no one actor can influence the market.

Mt Baker Vapor relocating from WA to AZ to escape capricious legislation threat

What!?!?!? I'm having trouble understanding how a state that recently legalized the recreational sale a certain green plant is making a difficult environment for vaping products. Hey, but what do I know, I'm just a Canadian (from a province that is known for its "horticulture").

Important commentary by David Abrams: are the walks of the TC echo chamber starting to cave in?

I think Clive must be on vacation, his site hasn't had a new entry since April 20th and that one was a guest piece. I've been checking to see when he would comment on the CDC youth smoking survey results.

Dr. F Metals in e-cigarettes are not a health concern.

I don't recollect reading the phrase "statistical analysis" in Dr. F's comments. I understood it to be a risk assessment analysis using data from existing studies and putting the findings into appropriate context.
