Steve, as the batteries are shipped with 80% or so charge, I don't see any reason that they could not be returned the same way, although taping the connector lightly might not be a bad precaution. I would stop off at the post office and ship it in a bubble-wraplined envelope. I've done that... -

One big suggestion for the Halo site concerning returns? A Halo customer in this forum unfortunately got a defective battery (Hey, it happens to the best of them!). Its all relative. You may well get a knock-off battery from fasttech and be surprisingly pleased with it, as long as you accept that the low cost entails greater risk. By no means a Halo employee, but my understanding is that it is a matter of days before a large re-stock for Halo products. I know that Halo has had a large influx of customers and probably got caught a bit off-guard. You won't get much response during the holiday week-end. Hopefully this week... -

A $12 Ego? Reliability of FastTech Products / Is this a good intro level PV?
While the batteries won't be quite up to the quality of name brand eGo's, for the price, you can't go too far wrong. I would recommend either of the 2 battery/2 clearomizer kits. If you are going to be using it "on the go" you might opt for the shorter 650mah batteries, but of course run time...- PeteC2

I tend to think that it was not shorted out, or the led probably would not light. It may be that the battery center post got pushed down just enough to fail to contact. That would not be inconsistent based on the results when attempting to charge, either. This video is for an eGo battery, but... -

That was a good video on cleaning however, I would caution folks to be very cautious with their dry burn. IMHO 6 or 7 seconds is way too long. If the wicks are close to dry, it is easy to char them.
