Study: Some E-Cigs Put Out Tobacco-Like Levels of Carcinogens

Looking forward to the methodology used in this study. Something just doesn't sound right when "dripping" is called out like this. All devices essentially boil down to a coil around a wet wick. The differences in various systems are all about how do you get the wick wet. In this sense...

Boiling aties, is it a dead thing ?

This^ I recently started using cotton and can't say enough good things about it. Made my wife a micro-coil for her Protank and showed her how to change the cotton wick. Dry burn the empty coil, re-wick and you are ready to go. Flavor is out of this world. One of these days I'm going to sit...

Why is ECF full of so many people against subohming?

That's what started this in the first place.

Vaping is causing me to have GAS

It does calm down after a while. I'm very happy with mixing my juices, my Provari, a (recently acquired) Reo Grand and about 5 different toppers. One of these days I may pickup a Kayfun for the Provari, but if I had to live with what I currently have, I'd be just fine.

    Best topper for REO?

Another vote for the RM2. The Igo Rob sells is also pretty nifty, but it is harder to build because of its wee size.

Smoking vs. Vaping ... some questions.

    1. I never did this while smoking so can't comment. 2. Yes, but it is easier to go longer without vaping than it ever was to go without smoking. It is also easier to slowly reduce the amount of nicotine you are using. 3. Yes, but I also got married to a very good cook. The jury is still out...

Is the Provari worth the money?

I own one, I'd say definitely yes.

Why is ECF full of so many people against subohming?

About everything that needs to be said has been said, but I'll toss in my :2c: It seems to me that most people on ECF don't outright decry sub-ohm vaping. They do, however, express measured concern about it. Those who have a good understanding of their battery's limits, the limits of their...

    Opposite of a dry hit.

Every once in a blue moon I will over-drip or over-squonk. If things go well it ends with me wondering why my vape isn't very good while I take things apart to discover everything is flooded. If it doesn't go well, it ends with a mouthful of juice. Bleh!

General Ohm, Wattage, and Volatage Question

To add to what has been said above... I don't sub-ohm as there are some very real safety concerns*, but I do tend to vape low-Ohm coils. One of the real advantages is that the coils heat up very quickly. If you have ever found yourself taking a few puffs to "get your mod going" you've...

Is Temperature the Future of Digital Vaping?

Except that Voltage, Wattage and your coil's resistance are actually useful numbers if one is considering a setup. Temperature? Not so much... I agree with the general sentiment, however, not enough vape? Turn in up. Too hot? Tasting burnt? Turn it down. My wife and her eGo Twist.

    How safe? Sub-ohming

There is really no need to go sub-ohm. I blow huge clouds and have to clean the windows in my office far too often from the vape film that condenses on them. Seriously, I can fog up a room just fine with a 1.4 Ohm coil. There is no reason to risk catastrophe in a "I can go lower than you"...

Glad you got things worked out. Nothing wrong with a single coil. Read up on resistance in parallel circuits, that should help you. And above all, vape safe friend!

Something to understand about using a multimeter. The leads themselves will add to the resistance. If one is building a sub-ohm coil, this resistance from the leads can be as much as what you are trying to get on a coil. The multimeter's reading could read 0.5 Ohms, when measuring a dead...

If it says it is too low, then it is too low. Start by building a single coil, read up on some basic electronics - you really need to understand Ohm's law and how resistance works in series and parallel. If these things don't make sense, you aren't ready to start rebuilding yet.

Also, are you trying to build a dual coil? Given that you said you have an Igo-W4, I'm assuming yes. Make sure you understand how resistance works in parallel circuits.

I'd use the Zmax. From the user manual: 5.Ds--Display change In this mode the Zmax will read and display your atomizer/cartomizer ohms measurement, your battery voltage and your atomizer/cartomizer output voltage. This feature is useful if you want to check what type of atomizer/cartomizer you...

Always. Always test your coils. If you are just starting rebuilding, I'd recommend aiming for 1.5 - 2.0 Ohms. It is also unclear what device you are firing these in. Be careful, a hard short can be very bad in a mech mod. I don't own a Zmax, but it is my understanding it should be able to...

Never seen a Reo in person......

I posted this in another thread a few days ago. My run down on why Reos are such amazingly great devices. (Note that this was in response to someone saying the Reo was ugly and unsophisticated.)
