I don't experience any difference between the dozens of different shaped drip tips. I do know material will transfer heat differently and the bigger inner diameter is great for dripping but as far as flavor, I don't think it matters, more of an aesthetic preference.

If its 100% cotton, (I use Peaches and Cream too) then its fine. Make sure you boil it before using, removes any sizing used to make the cotton yarn hold its shape. You can also use 100% organic cotton balls as a wick, this requires no boiling and wicks like a champ. Cotton Wiki
