The first time is always a learning experience :D
There are many ways to prep the ceramic wicks. My preferred method is to clean the wick after the grinding/shaping by sticking it in a small/heavy glass and microwave it with just enough distilled water to cover the wick. I do two 15 second boil...
Glad someone else is seeing this phenomenon. I made a new channeled fishstick last Friday (three nice small grooves using a 409 cut-off wheel), set it up in one of my RSSTs using the cheesecloth method & ribbon Kanthal. Wrapped it right on the atty. Great flavor & vapor right off the bat - I'm...
QC=Quality Control.
I got them from Litecig ...both the original, and this one also...but they are very different attys.. I don't want to bad-mouth Litecig - I've always had good dealings with them, and as I said - I probably should have just sent this one back. It works OK - as well as the...
+1 on the Ming tip....which leads to an interesting observation. I just got my new RSST yesterday (should have been two of them, but that's a different issue) and this one is very different than the original one I got (like the one in the picture).
This one has a number of differences - the...
Since Elias is probably busy playing with his new toy, I'll try to answer your questions & my take on the RSSTs:
Pretty nice atty - I should be getting two more today by mail. The air hole is relatively small, but the dome of the RSST is much thinner than the AC9, so its easily opened up. I...
Looks like USPS will be delivering my "Test Mule" RSSTs tomorrow. Litecig got them in on Tuesday, and sold out within hours, but I got a couple more to experiment with.
I'm making a couple of fishsticks tonight for them & will try making smaller grooves like Dan did on his example instead of...
Yep...sold it about six years ago - sad day. I owned it for over ten years - great car..
Lots of pics of it here: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/ddmau/slideshow/1995%20Del%20Sol
EDIT: I think we are hijacking this thread...Sorry.... its all Boden's fault :D
Yeah, I hear you. Some of the clearances can get pretty tight on those Hondas. Even getting to the oil filter on my '95 Del Sol was always a challenge (on the back of the motor), but when I put a Supercharger on it, I ended up having to loosen the motor mounts and jack up the engine to get at...
+1 on the Natural.... I love mine. I've used it with 18650s, 18500 (with a Kick) and dual 18350s....works like a champ.
Best of all...with an RSST on it - it looks like a Hybrid. The two are a perfect match:
Todd has a review of it & I agree 100% with his evaluation : " A Crackin'-wee MOD "...
I don't think you'd need channels in a Vivi wick since the fish-stick wouldn't be long enough to go to the bottom of the tank anyway, so titling would be mandatory - but I had to do that anyway with the silica wicks to get decent flavor.
A possible work-around would be to use the ceramic "U"...
If you want cheap, durable, and room for everything you could possibly need - and then some, and is relatively comfortable to carry....go to an Army Surplus store & get a Rucksack/Alice pack (large size, and don't forget the frame). Something like this:
There are a couple of different styles...
Yep, sounds like you've seen the light. Once you find the right combo, & get a new ceramic broken-in, you can never go back.
I've got about a half-dozen large Vivi Novas sitting around now that I never use anymore. I used to think they were better than sliced-bread, but now - MeH.... not so...
First problem is there's very little room for more channels with the existing material .....and you reach the point of diminishing returns. They cut down the heat-sink problem, but start making the wicks too fragile again. Until a completely new material surfaces (Like Boden's "Magical Mystery...
Next time try making a solid Stainless wick - they tend to wick better (more juice in contact with the coils=more vapor). Look on Youtube for Todd's solid wick making technique....and there are many others. You basically need to use about 1/2 again longer piece of mesh and wrap it as tight as...
It's because they are taking "Lung hits" like smoking a cigarette. You have to tell them to draw the vapor SLOWLY into their mouth, and if they want to inhale it, then they draw it into their lungs....just a different technique.
Yeah, I'm mainly an RBA user, but I don't like to carry them around for various reasons. I tried a T3 & even one of the new EVODs and got basically the same phenomenon- after a little while, they tasted like I was vaping silicon or old condoms or something....not pleasant at all. I thought the...
Yes... you can either enlarge the existing hole, or add another one on the opposite side (preferred). They help keep the carto fully filled with juice - the only trick is to not flood the carto.
I just punch another hole on the opposite side of the existing hole and make it about the same...
If you are only getting three days out of a carto & getting burnt tastes, you are probably running them a bit too dry. You might want to invest in a carto tank & if you already have a tank - get a carto-punch so you can open up the hole (or add another one).
Tanks are pretty reasonably priced...
I wrapped a 1/8 inch yesterday with a grooved wick. Even though my grooves are pretty wide (I don't have any super-thin diamond wheels) - no hotspots at all with .5X.1 Ribbon Kanthal. Just a nice even glow... Setup was easy-peasy.
Its running very well...wicks like crazy (I even put the fill...
