Very cool! I feel there is a big, noticeable difference in look and functionality between cookie cutter, template based site builders and one conceived/designed/hand coded by a pro. Sure there is drawbacks to both sides... but there is a need for people who can code a nice site :)
I learned...
mostly in lurking mode here... the real world has me job hunting and trying to get a handle on Catalyst frame work within wordpress so I can edit some pages for a local business and get paid. I've developed in the LAMP environment for years and can find my way around just about any code... but...
my sparkly orange is my favorite, the 2-tone sparkly dark grey & dark red works well for more 'formal' settings. My 3rd with be "Keyzy Pink" to match my pink donation Ming that has been sitting with no Mod to sit on :)
I don't think GLV needs a 'next'... it's a solid line of PVs and the custom colors & etchings put them in a strong market stand IMHO.
My 2 GLV-2 minis are with me for life and the only other PV I'm interested is a 3rd, just because I want another color :)
thanks, the wood is the art... I just drilled a couple holes, sanded & finished it :)
I like the pipe fittings you put together... I thought about something similar, but all I had on hand was household supply and drain fittings that were either too big or too small. While working on a house...
actually it's the forward to Tony Levin's book "Beyond the Bass Clef-The Life and Art of Bass Playing" circa 1998. I don't have my copy, but I don't recall it claiming anyone but Tony wrote it (I could be wrong).
Here it is on Tony's site Tony Levin -
this one ;)
Bee Basses 'Worker Bee' fretted 7
Benavente Guitars '51P' fretted 5 and fretless 6
pair of 1983 Ibanez... RB924 and RS315 (also have a Destroyer bass of similar vintage I'm modding)
and an Engater Tweaker-40 sitting on a Bag End D12-B
I've got a Squier Strat from the early 90s...
Indeed! That tune sends me off into a head bob within 3 bars... EVERY time :)
Have you seen/heard this version?
I would have loved to been in that audience.
I was lucky enough to have a few years of theory under my belt from playing sax (mostly alto, as well as alto clarinet, oboe & bassoon) in school. My Grandfather played country geetar professionally... and had all kinds of instruments for my sister and I to make noise on. Hammond B3...
I cannot complain about the helicores... they held up well, sound good pizz and bow well enough for my weak skillz. What kind of EUB are you using? I almost picked up an Ergo, really want an NS but not willing to drop the cash.
Jazz (with a lean to the simpler rock/jam side of it) I'm somewhat new to URB... I bought my beginner bass about 6 years ago. It's an Englehardt EM-1 I picked up used for about $1400. The original owner bought it new, had close to a $1000 work done to it and found that his hands just couldn't...
Guts... actually $300 is the low end of the price range. Some run closer to $150 each string!!! I've got some D'Addario Helicore Hybrids on my Engelhardt now.
and proof that the 'tone' is in the hands, heart, and mind of the player...
Here is a little p90+bigsby gold top action :)
If you haven't seen the DVD, the full show is up on youtube... he just keeps getting better with age!
be lucky you don't play bass... there was a time when I was burning through a set a week on a pair of basses. At an endorsement discount bought in bulk it was about $30 a week.
Speaking of strings, I need a new set for my Upright... the ones I want are close to $300, the ones I'll settle on...
That is worth repeating!
All this Pink Floyd / David Gilmour talk has me pulling out my copy of "Remember That Night" for tonight's viewing (and listening) pleasure.
Animals has long been my favorite release from Pink Floyd... and I've always been surprised it wasn't as popular as I thought it should be. That said, I was floored to find out that one of Les Claypool's side bands called Frog Brigade did the album beginning to end as part of a tour in 2000...
