Yes! Welcome to ECF! I hear you on the Stardusts. I purchased four of them and only two of them still function. I only use Vision Vivi Minis and Tanks now.
I still have and use my Joye eGO/510 900mah passthroughs. I started with them, and then later purchased a Provari. I like the passthrough option only for the convenience of plugging them into a usb while at work on a computer. I've tried "simple" passthroughs that have no batteries. I did notice...
As BJ43 mentioned, the twisted twine wicks better than the braided twine. The BeadSmith 2mm also has 12 strands, but it's 3 ropes 4 strands each. Just a matter of finding the company that makes the type of twisted twine that works for us.
Bump. I have a "Tenergy TN 270" that has served me well for the last 6 months. I'm using 2 "AW" brand IMR 2000 mah batteries. I understand that "AW" is a rebrand of Panasonic. Charges one or/and two batteries.
The 1mm is 7 strands twisted. Wicks great in my ViviNovas.(using 2 x 1mm wicks coiled)
The 2mm is 12 strands twisted. Wicks good in my Ody Clone
BeadSmith 2mm is 12 strands braided. Wicks okay in my Ody Clone.
I chose a Provari for many of the reasons that everyone has already stated. I must admit however, there was one time when I wished that I had purchased something other than a Provari. It was the time when I dropped it on my toe. Man, did that hurt!

The question of safety has been thoroughly addressed in that thread if memory serves...
Been going for awhile now. I have a few of the filters used, but I've been too busy with other projects to...
I'm with BJ43 on the subjective taste! There are times of the day when I cannot taste the vape at all. This happens for me after 18 hours of being awake. Like clockwork. I cannot test my DIY mixes around this time. I can't stand the taste of bamboo at all. There are times of the day that hemp...
I live! (heh). The hemp taste fades pretty fast for me. I wrap two 1mm wicks by hand. It's pretty stout, so I've never used a needle. As 100%VG stated, lightly wrapped is the way to go imho. Just light contact is all it needs. After it's wrapped, I shape it a bit to insure the coil is round top...
That weave is definitely better than the BeadSmith, as you know. I just made a coil with the 2mm for a vivi. Works good. Not quite as good as your double 1mm, but still decent. The 2mm in my Terminator is breaking in nicely. The vapor is starting to get nice and more "pillowy" like cotton.
Here's another pic the Terminator with the method that I have been using the last 3 days. It's been working perfectly so far:

I notched the silver with a small flat-tip screwdriver to keep the...
Hey BJ43, it's not my intention to hijack your excellent thread on oval coils! It.. just .. happened :)
Okay; I've got the "new" 2mm hemp twine that BJ43's source made available in my Terminator. Been vaping on it for a few hours now. Great vapor production, recovers *very* fast like the 1mm...
It came in yesterday. I have it boiled and dried. It's not 2mm, but larger than the 1mm twine, and should work well with the Term. I'll install it today and see how it goes.
Thanks to calpis posting a pic of how his coil wire fit in a gap in his Terminator, this got me thinking about a different way to run the NR negative wire without interfering with the main ring that holds the ceramic housing to the base.
I took a piece of .30 gauge .999 silver NR wire and...
I'm glad Navy Lifegaurd's wire method works for you. I tried a few times, but my resistance was all over the scale. As you can see in previous few posts, I've found a method that definitely works for me :) Good to hear that reducing the diameter works. I'm getting about 5.5 (rough guess) in mine...
