    Then, it's not your connections. It's a short on your wick, most likely either where it contacts the wick hole or the bottom of the tank. Keep the wick off the bottom and make sure it is well oxidized where it contacts the wick hole.

    ^^^^ And do this with no juice in the tank or you'll have issues identifying hot spots because a wet wick will mask them.
