I store unmixed nicotine base in the freezer in glass jars. Have had them in the freezer for several years and the nicotine is fine.
Mixed and kept in a cool dark place, liquid should be fine for 1-2 years. You'll know when you taste it. :D

VG- more vapor, less TH
PG- less vapor, may be harsh, more TH
Could either be your liquid is on the thin side or wattage too high.
You can even try some practice bottles without the nicotine-just your PG, VG and flavoring.
Nicotine does change the taste somewhat but you'll get a general idea about whether you like the flavoring or not.
I'd start a little closer to your target nicotine strength like Ryedan suggested- 48 mg, even 24. Not such a large dilution when just starting out, particularly when you're testing flavors.
