For beginner use, PT2 are a good choice especially with rebuilt coils.

Rebuilding a coil/head with cotton wick will do you wonders for flavor, take a look into it.. not nearly as complicated as it seems.
Although lead is dangerous, I wouldn't worry about it too much with mods
