Very good WarHawk. I've use a Joule Thief to light the On L.E.D. in my Spark-O-Matic with a 1.5v AA battery. It's a handy circuit It only cost me a few cents to make. L.E.D. with a AA battery

    Need schooling on choosing fuses

    Using CraigHB's example for a 30W DNA 30 with minimum battery input voltage of 3.2v and an efficiency loss of 20%, we have: (20% x 30w) = 6w 6w + 30w = 36w 36w / 3.2v = 11.25A (3.2v is the min input voltage and 11.25A is the fuse rating or for practical sense 12A) P.S. If you look at the DNA...

The RGEF-400 is 60mOhm 4A. You can get away with two. One in each battery. 60mOhm is rather high in resistance. One in each batt should give you 30mOhms. As per our friend CraigHB: "You don't want it to be more than 30m Ohms since it can impact booster performance". The ones I use are 7mOhms

There are several ways to go about fusing. The DNA 30 should have a 12A hold current input fuse. Using two parallel batteries: Each battery should be fused separately. You can use two 6A hold current fuses, one for each battery. Or four fuses, two 3A fuses in parallel for each battery. If the...

Sounds good Mike. In the past I have been able to unsolder and resolder the ribbon cable on the board side but lately I noticed that evolve is also using an electronic tack weld on the ribbon cable at the board side. Removing the cable has led to the board solder traces being damaged. I had...

Yes a fuse won't help with an internal short of that battery but will protect the other parallel battery. I know, been there recently :D

As per datasheet The DNA 30 will sense a shorted atty or wiring short. It also has an internal on board temperature sensor and will shut down if the internal board temperature becomes excessive.
