What kind of coil do you prefer to use when chasing flavor?

Preference would be: Clapton (26 gauge base, 30 gauge wrap around) (7 wraps) Twisted 26 gauge (8 wraps) All coils on a 3mm screwdriver, somewhere in the 1 - 1.5 ohm range. Running on an unregulated box (in series)

    RDA Or RTA?

I'd go RDA for for home use and RTA or RDTA for out and about use, seems to work best for me and less of a hassle/mess.

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

Mosfets came in today from Digikey, mission accomplished :vapor: I'll make the wiring a lil prettier, change the fire switch (the contacts broke on the 1 I was going to use) and add a voltmeter as well. Much appreciated to every1 for their help/information.

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

Was pretty sure it was wired correctly, just hoping I overlooked something that some1 would catch (wishful thinking :). I did get these mosfets from ebay (although the seller has a really good reputation) At the same time, after wiring up 4 of them and getting the same results I ordered some...

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

1st, I really appreciate the help. Sorry about the horrendous pics (its the only cam I have) Left side of sled is negative, right is positive. Mosfet (IRLB3034) is flipped over (heatsink side up) in pics. I held down the switch to see if the mosfet would get warm (not hot) and it did, so its...

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

So my mosfets came in and I'm having a problem. It will not fire any rda (all rda's fire on another device) Put the mosfet box on my multimeter and ohm reader (which has a voltage reader as well) and when I press the switch I am getting 4.2 volts. Tried multiple rda's, tried different coils with...

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

Another question about mosfets/resistors. Got my box built (2 Efest 20A - Parallel) and would like to use the smaller switch/mosfet in this build. Looked at the diagram and see that the mos needs a 15k 1/4 watt resistor. I have alot of resistors since radio shack went out of business (it was a...

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

That looks beautiful. The only problem I can see with it is that it only fires @ 1.0 ohm the lowest. If it went slightly lower in the resistance dept (0.6) and above I would have been sold. I usually rock out somewhere in the 0.7 - 0.8 range. Damn, that is so close to what I am looking for.

Very nice, this looks along the lines of what I have been searching for. Thanks you :)

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

I think you are right. What I am looking for is less a switch and more a regulator. Need to find 1 that works with 7.4 volts that the 18650's will output at the same time I want to limit it to a 10 amp draw (with the availability to up the amps slightly if needed) It appears I'm looking for...

    RBA Recommendations?

I'd vote for the Big Dripper clone. Best of both worlds imo. Has a tank that hold a respectable amount of juice (about 5 ml) drips when you need/want it to. Excellent flavor, no leaking like the magma. Does it for me. Ordering another 1 soon

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

I understand more than a few of the people here think (am I an electronics wiz, no)....At the same time I am not a beginner (if I was I wouldn't build a box myself) and was trying to further my knowledge of certain resistors/mosfets and the like. I have plethora of momentary and other switches...

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

I guess I see the relevance (a lower V and A switch + mosfet would be less expensive/smaller. At the same time I have about (6) 12V - 25-30 amp switches sitting in my tool box atm. Even a 125V switch with an amp rating of 25-30 would still work in these particular applications (I've used them)...

    Better undesrstanding of MOSFETS

From what I have been seeing/hearing MOSFETS are used in the situation of inadequately rated switches (like if you had a switch rated for 5V - 3A draw) yet you needed 1 that was capable of 7.4V - 25 A draw. What I don't understand is why you wouldn't just get a switch that's rated for the power...

    Regulated box mods vs unregulated?

Regulated boxes will use power at whatever level you set it to, where as unregulated mods will use power based on coil resistance/what the battery can pull, unregulated will also experience battery sag as the battery's charge diminishes. Personally I prefer regulated mods where there is more...

Home Built Box Mod (Wall adapter powered)

What is the stated output amperage of the power adapters you use from radioshack? The magnets were free as a result of building/repairing PC's for years. They come from cd/dvd drives that I have stripped (Rare earth magnets) Very strong/small and seem to be fairly inexpensive from what I have...

    Flavor RDA

I do love the Magma, it is great in the flavor dept/very easy to build on as well as holding a good amount of juice....However.....Own 2 of them and they require 3 fixes IMO. 1st fix is the needle fix (12 gauge/2mm) hollow needles (cut to correct height) so you don't get juice leaking out of the...
