    Just throwing this info out there. I got enamel cover kanthal today and it appears to heat up just fine without the enamel coating out-gassing or burning.     Maybe? I'm just not sure. It may be a flaw from his original tube, without the flanges at the ends.

    I was taking it apart to clean like normal and snap. I'm wondering if this happened b/c it's the original post from Jim's first batch of DID's. It doesn't have the flanges at the top and bottom. I don't know though. I wasn't putting a lot of tension on it or anything?
