Thanks, but in all fairness, it was not my intention to have anyone "beta test" anything. The mod was intended to be a finished mod. I did mention in the Paypal invoice that this is a "beta version" because like anything, there is always room for improvement. The value of the Mymod is its...
This mod was designed in 2014. Along the way, some asked me if it had an adjustable 510. I said no. It would add complexity and cost. The Mymod is designed to be as simple as possible, and the price reflects that. The current design works fine if one uses an O-ring. If one does not want an...
I just bought 4L of 100mg from RTS. Given my rate, that'll last me 8 years.
I only bought 1L of VG because I feel VG will always be around. (right?)
Do you think I should buy more nic juice? I personally think 8 years is enough for now, a lot can happen in that time. Even if the FDA totally...
A solid insulator would have no elasticity. That means the atty would have to touch it exactly. What would we do with any gap between the mod and the atty?
1. Some users attached a spare screw to the extra threaded hole in the negative plate. You don't have to trim any battery if you do that. It's at least a temporary solution. I'm working on a more permanent solution on this right now.
2. Check that white delrin piece in the back of the door...
I think I've found an easy solution to the negative contact issue. I'll post them in a few days after I try it myself. It won't require trimming any battery, and is a cheap and easy fix. I'll send it a kit to all if it works well.
So can we conclude now that the shorting was caused by the 510...
The 510s are a machined small round piece, easy to make, and not too expensive. If there are demands I can always make some extras. Some mentioned deeper ones. Problem with 510s that's too deep is that some atty won't be able to make contacts at all, which is worse than having to use an O-ring...
Or you can loosen the PEEK screw on the right a bit. Tightening the right leaf spring screw will tend to push the leaf spring to contact the delrin piece which will prevent that from bouncing back.
There are two ways that I know of to install the silicone insulators.
1. Use a tweezer and play around (not recommended)
2. Place the insulator at the center of the 510, and press with the flat end of a pencil or pen. Usually it goes in after a press since the insertion end is tapered.
If you...
It's been 2 years since the last time I bought nic juice. (1 L really lasts)
I plan on buying a gallon or two of nic juice right away. Does anyone know of any coupons? If not, let me know which sites still have them. I hope it's not too late to start hoarding.
Thanks
That might be the cause of the problem. I assumed everyone uses an O-ring for their atty and with the first batch of 510 I made, there is no room for the O-ring after the atty is screwed down properly. That’s why I made a different set of 510s. But this actually caused trouble for ppl who don’t...
When replacing the fuse, it's helpful to tighten the larger screw first (while securing the fuse with your finger), and then tighten the smaller screw.
I think 90% that the shorts are caused by issues with the 510 insulator.
The 510 installed is meant to be used with an atty O-ring, like the one that’s included in the bag. That means one should place the O-ring underneath the atty before attaching the atty, to form a seal. Perhaps some people...
That would certainly cause shorts. When I assembled it, the 510 insulation is secure. You can test this by moving the center pin up and down and see if the insulation stays in place.
But to move the center pin one would have to loosen the leaf spring screw a bit first.
I don't recommend doing any bridging until we figure out the cause of fuse blowing. There might be a hard short somewhere. We need to figure it out first. This has never happened to me. Even if no fuse blow, I still do not recommend any bridging.
