There are no pics in this thread where the insulator is visible.... only pics I see are off a dirty deck with a build in it...
Show a pic of the insulator without a coil and positive post obscuring what you need to see...
Yeah its probably damaged... but without exposing area we can't see...
Disassemble atty and inspect the insulators. It might be bad.... the black ops could be a melted orings seal.. it the post was loose that could yield a short.or bad connection..... and the melted ring... loose post could also cause a cracked insulators. .. over tightening things can also...
What ever floats your boat I say.... Heck I can't even figure out why people need 2 coils 8 just seems a massive waste of juice and electricity too me.
But then I find creating fog banks annoying and I hate the taste of ejuice..... I only want to taste the flavors in my juice.

So what do you need or want... do you still need or want 220 watts... do you want bigger or smaller size? Budget range...
I suggest any mod except a smok brand.... Beyond that?

I use plain old Walmart cotton balls...... try samples of most of the other cottons and rayon..... never find them better enough or easier enough to actually BUY cotton for vaping.... wife has a bag of the stuff... grab a handful every 6 months or so boil it dry it stick it in a sandwich...
Use an atomizer that doesn't push the mods 510 in so much.....or use an orings between the mod and atomizer to create a spacer to prevent over tightening....
Qtip with alcohol once a week or so is all you should need....

Isn't the noise cricket a series mod. So start voltage is 4.2 volts times 2 batteries.... if parallel the volts is 4.2 with amps double.

What does steam-engine.org say your build should ohm at...
Sounds like you have internal shorting. Coil touching what it should not.... also are you measuring ohm with the VOM at the same contact points as the posts would have... if not you will get a high reading do to leg loss.

Boiling will not remove or prevent cotton taste.. it will remove other possible flavors like bleach and peroxide and it make the cotton absorb and transport juice better.

I choose the wire that will give me the numbers I want.... ohm temp surface area and mass....
I use SS if for TC.. otherwise anything goes. ...
IN a taste contest I might do a Nichrome build. Because it just seems to make the best flavor. It just not always the best for the build...
Looks like heat damage aggravated by excessive tightening....
Seals degrade from use.... expect to have to replace them occasionally....
Caustic juices just speed the degradation.

If the drawer has a buck of debris or stuff that might damage things... just screw an old atty with out a coil onto the mod. To seal the 510.
Or clean out the crap from the drawer.
