Micro Coils to increase Vapor, flavor & TH

It's kanthal. I haven't tried nichrome yet. I love when my freshly built coils turn out like this. :D

Kanthal A-1 turning blue when burned with butane

It's an Igo-W. I think it's about time to change the wicks, but here's a quick picture: EDIT: Wow, the compression from uploading it makes it look a lot darker, hopefully it can still give you a good idea of how I wicked it.

Micro Coils to increase Vapor, flavor & TH

I've got a couple for you guys. 26G, 6/7 wraps, 0.59 ohms, 1/16" ID. I got my Origen in the mail today, so of course I had to do a quick micro coil to try it out. :D And a random build on my Igo-W from the other day: 28G, 10 wraps, 0.62 ohms, 1/16" ID.

Kanthal A-1 turning blue when burned with butane

I wouldn't worry unless they get very dark and have a rough looking texture after torching them. Those would be signs that the metal has been damaged by the heat. The build I posted was 28G wire and no torching at all, only from dry firing the coils.

Kanthal A-1 turning blue when burned with butane

When setting up my coils, they often look like this: Most metals will change color when heated to certain temperatures. This is why torching stainless mods will create color variations. Different temperatures create different colors. I believe that's all that's happening here. I built that...

    Snap, crackle, pop, SPIT.....

It's not really as elegant as it sounds. They just don't make the drip tip hole all the way through. It is bored out for the drip tip and then they only drill a smaller hole in the center. I believe it's about the same size as the bottom of a standard 510 drip tip on the through hole. I haven't...

    Snap, crackle, pop, SPIT.....

I've noticed it mostly on builds that tend to hold more juice in between the coils like twisted wire. The first time I fire it after letting it sit for a while, I will almost always get a loud POP and some hot juice and then it starts firing like a normal coil. It probably has something to do...

    RDA's the short version

That atty looks like it would be a pain in the ... to build. Looks like there is no room.

Boring out a standard drip tip

A drill press would be you best best. Just watch the o-ring groove, I drilled one out too far and ripped through the o-ring groove.

Looking for something very simple but not garbage

The kayfun is VERY finicky when it comes to building. At least the clones are. If the wicking or the build is not "correct", you'll have some issues, whether it be leaking or dry hits. The easiest atomizers to learn how to build coils on are simple drippers, IMO. An Igo-W will make it much...

    Halo Top Cap

I'm going to have it custom made by a machinist to the design I made.

    Halo Top Cap

I really like it. It's much easier to build on with the larger deck. The screws don't seem to cur kanthal as easily either, which is nice. I'm just waiting for my custom cap at this point!

    opinions on wick

You don't think that the vaporized eliquid will leave a "stain" on the cotton? Most things change color as they burn/vaporize. The eliquid "condensation" on my top caps generally has a slightly darker color than the juice itself as well.

    opinions on wick

Here is the 2+ day old wick that has had at least 10ML of juice run through it: wick in coil wick Click for larger pictures. This time I was using a much lighter juice that is basically clear with a slight yellow color from the 6MG of nicotine. Even the center of the wick that was in the coil...

    opinions on wick

I think you're crazy if you think that the flavor with silica does not begin to degrade after a couple days as well. Maybe I have extremely sensitive taste buds, but I noticed silica/ekowool beginning to taste "off" after only a day or two of use as well. I'm going on about 10-15ml/2 days on my...

    Halo Top Cap

Igo-W5s come with much larger airholes stock than the Igo Ws. The standard Igo-Ws have air holes are are about 1/32" or so. There is literally no airflow with them stock. Lol. I liked the halo cap so much that I bought one for both of my IgoWs and I even designed something similar for my spirit...

    opinions on wick

If the gunk is from decomposing cotton, why do silica builds also end up with gunk built up on the coils? The common factor here is juice.
  19. _sidekick_

    opinions on wick

I would attribute that difference to the fact that cotton is an organic fiber and silica is not. I mean doesn't silica withstand temperatures above 1,000°F? Also, my cotton is not burnt when I change it. I normally change the cotton due to gunk building up on the coils and the cotton. It is not...
