    Unprotected battery and a cheap charger = not a good combination. I'm going with the theory of internal short in the charger over-discharging the battery and sending the whole works into meltdown. :2c:

    Okay, a follow-up: The TV Earl Grey (unsweetened) is much, much more to my liking. I'm waiting until I get some colored drip-tips (on order) to keep all the cartos straight before I try the kretek or the AC.

    I'm getting myself confused, apparently. Smaller real diameter = more resistance = higher AWG number. or vice versa: Larger real diameter = less resistance = lower AWG number. So, to get less resistance, you want larger wire, which means a lower AWG number. Here's a chart, probably more...

    And I got the +2/+4 part wrong, going up in size would be -2/-4 to the gauge number -- edited my post accordingly.

    The smaller the size, the more resistance. Just a quick example from a random supplier: 34 Gauge .0063" Diam. (0.16mm) 17.01 ohms per foot resistance 40 Gauge .00314" Diam. (0.079mm) 70.24 ohms per foot resistance So, go up a size or two (-2 or -4 AWG) from whatever got you the 2.6.

    A smoktech dual coil is two coils in parallel, so a 1.7 would be two 3.4 coils in parallel. Measuring 3.4 (+/- a bit) means one of the coils burnt out or has a bad connection.

    I had a bad (shorted) one in my first box - great start for a complete newbie :facepalm:. Luckily the battery I use is protected (it started blinking), but I'll be checking the ones I have left with a multimeter before use.
