Boxer Mod 200W with Evolv DNA200 Temperature Control

My experience with the 1Ah 3S battery is that it's pretty comparable to a single 18650, but with the LiPo one is looking at about a 50% bigger mod or more compared to a single 18650 mod.

Boxer Mod 200W with Evolv DNA200 Temperature Control

So been playing with the DNA200 Boxer LiPo since Saturday. Mixed feelings about the chip, but I'm not going to discuss that. Rather, in terms of the mod construction itself, I really do like the Alumylon. It's got an interesting sparkly effect, but it's really the grainy texture of the mod...

    SXmini M Class (TEMP CONTROL)

Yes, I'm bizarre, in that I purchased a device not expecting that I'd need to install software right away just to make it useful. Just like every other mod I've purchased. I'm not angry about it, just noting the reality of what deficiencies the DNA200 has in that regard, which in part could be...

    SXmini M Class (TEMP CONTROL)

Menu systems can be fairly easy to use (e.g., select preset, then scroll through preheat power, punch and time limit - make changes and done - probably all of 15 seconds). The Dicodes is an exception because everything has to be controlled by one button.

    DNA 200 Custom Screens (128x32)

I've made a few so far, which I'm happy to share. Feel free to do the same. Erlkonigin: Mark Bugs Gem: Smok TCT Tank: Svoemesto Kayfun:

    SXmini M Class (TEMP CONTROL)

Yep agreed, but also goes back to my initial criticism regarding the lack of being able to control preheats or presets from the menu system on a DNA200. Rather than force users to install and use escribe to control important functions, it should be accessible without escribe. That way, if you...

    SXmini M Class (TEMP CONTROL)

Given what the wrote on the DNA Forum, "maybe a native Mac version in q4 or 2016, but it isn't on our firm development schedule yet", I'd say end of the year is rather optimistic. Windows XP is the only license I have. Spending $$$ on a newer Windows license, just to use it for one...

    SXmini M Class (TEMP CONTROL)

Since Evolv does not support Macs (nor plans to anytime soon) and the DNA200 ain't all that grand without escribe, I had set up a virtualbox running Windows XP and then set that up to work with the DNA200. A substantial amount of work just to change a misguided default preheat setting I'd say...

    SXmini M Class (TEMP CONTROL)

It's an interesting supplement to my sx350j stuff, so I'm not in a rush to sell it or my sx350j stuff. ;p Personally, I'm a bit exhausted with escribe and multiple 2 minute wait times though to bother with it for now. Then again, maybe staring at an upload bar repeatedly does bring some...

    SXmini M Class (TEMP CONTROL)

I understand where you are coming from, but it requires plenty of time with escribe to do all that. Meanwhile, if you don't want to have to learn escribe or don't have access to it for a new scenario, the DNA200 is sort of sub-par in terms of functionality due to the lack of on-chip menu control...

    SXmini M Class (TEMP CONTROL)

Well, one can set up all sorts of presets to cover a range of preheats, so that's sort of the best workaround to the lack of pre-heat control on-chip. However, that means out of the box you still need to hook it up to escribe to get it working that way. So in my case, that meant hours of...

    SXmini M Class (TEMP CONTROL)

I finally picked up a DNA200 and have been playing with it. It has some nice features, but my go to chip remains the sx350j. To really get the DNA200 to work well, one has to use escribe to setup a preset (e.g., the default preheat of 200W is way too much for my RTAs and gives a nasty initial...

*GEM: A new RTA by MarkBugs

I prefer to use my Gem on the SX350J or WAEII, but that didn't stop me from making a custom screen for the DNA200 just in case:

Boxer Mod 200W with Evolv DNA200 Temperature Control

Every shipment I've ever had comes out of Freeport NY. As far as shipping goes, my experience is that unless it ships out early in the day, it goes out the next day. Mine should arrive on Saturday.

Boxer Mod 200W with Evolv DNA200 Temperature Control

Received a response from GV. Turns out GV does insure for full value, it's just not shown in the tracking page USPS provides. Instead, USPS just tells you the minimum insurance included with the service being used, so as to confuse us. ;)

I got a tracking number earlier too. I wouldn't worry too much about the insurance, seeing as how GV provides the warranty.

Boxer Mod 200W with Evolv DNA200 Temperature Control

Got an email from GV that they received everything the need today, so I expect we'll be seeing mods ship out tonight or tomorrow.

Boxer Mod 200W with Evolv DNA200 Temperature Control

Last photos before I shipped it out. The sx350J is slightly wider than the DNA200 by maybe a couple mm on the sides orthogonal to the firing button panel, but otherwise the DNA200 is considerably larger.

    SX Mini M class finish

The power button motif is laser etched, so it would likely take something acidic or alkaline to wear down the metal. Do you eat a lot of oranges perhaps?
