I get check battery when my batteries are too low to meet the current demand (e.g., 20 amps while using temp control). I wouldn't necessarily blame it on the mod, it may just be that your batteries have some juice left, but the voltage drop at the current demand is too much for what the battery... -

also different firmware I believe. Finally, even if you could craft an 18650 battery package for the LiPo DNA 200, the battery door is not as easy to remove (18650 has a magnetic door that makes battery replacement easy). -
