I'm late to the party today, but as Teach said 1.8A (1800mA) is just fine! And your Samsung charger should be 1A (1000mA) which is sufficient, but I would use the B&N charger since you have it. -

Unfortunately not that I know of. :( You need a multimeter to check pins 1 and 4 inside the port. They are the far left and far right pins (blades?) in the port, 1 being +5v and 4 being Ground. One other thing I forgot to mention before is that if the USB Root Hub shows 500mA, that means the... -
