We all started somewhere ;) Cool thing about RBA/RDA is if you mess up a setup you can quickly tear it down and rebuild for only a couple pennies of wire and silica. It gets much easier and quicker once you build some confidence but it sure is cool the first time you wrap a wick/coil and get...
Once you get your hardware issues sorted (I'd just get a couple 1300mAh Vision Spinners, a charger and some EVODs and then rebuild the heads yourself (lots of easy tutorials on youtube and a years supply of 32awg and 3mm silica can be found on eBay for ~$20) then the biggest cost savings in...
if your able to measure resistance and when you push the button your getting vapor, it's working. You can pulse the button till the juice you dripped on the wick burns off and it'll glow but it's not necessary. In the immortal words of Zen, "just vape it..."
Coils should only glow when the wick is dry (hence the term dry burn). When I setup a silica based RBA I pulse the coils before putting any juice on the wick which seems to oxidize the resistance wire a bit and I get better performance (faster more even heating). It also let's you see if your...
When I was wicking with SS mesh I'd do a #500 with 50mm x 40mm wraped around a blunt tip 15ga needle (ends up about wick hole wide). On 1000% mech mods a 2/3 of 30awg would come in ~0.8Ω, on a Provari I'd still use 30awg but wrap a 4/5 to get about ~1.2Ω (@4.1v = ~14watts). Now, I use 2.0mm...
I hate springs (but know they're still a necessary evil). If you haven't already try doubling up the spring by simply twisting the spare into the current one (tightens the batt contact and like a dual-coil halves the resistance of the spring)
If your getting power with a multimeter, the switch is working. I'd look at making sure the atty 510 connector and top cap threads are clean and then look at adjustment of the top contact. The little adjustable contact is reverse threaded so twist it clockwise till the atty makes contact with...
As long as I can meet the mailman and hide the packaging my default answer to the question "is that new?" is "I've had it a while..." Could mean 5 minutes, could mean 5 months. To her it all looks alike and who's to say what "a while" actually means
yes, yes, don't know, maybe
I love that the hybrid connector gets rid of the 510 and that the switch (yes bottom/lockable ;)) uses a simple screw to hold it in instead of the little clip that vexes me (I've gotten better with it but at least half dozen times have been observed by my kids on...
Hahaha... I ordered the 14650 Polished :)
Hlias said they will eventually have replacement parts (connectors, switches, etc) and possibly brass switch/connector but it'll take a while for them to be available separately.
+1 ^^^^^ good advice there. If you're popping coils, you're shorting. What gauge wire are you using? Thinner wire like 32awg or 34awg will pop easier than 30 or 28 and ribbon as previously stated is the most forgiving for me.
If you posts a quick pic of your setup it's easier to diagnose.
