Yup, and sadly the plastic cup/filler ring is now a thing of the past. I'm using one right now I've had in service since September. Not perfect but darned close.
I can't speak for anyone else, but my goal is to help develop a carto that doesn't HAVE to be modded to work well. Most of us here can cut the things apart, stuff them in a juice bottle and vape happily all day, but a lot of people can't. I'm willing to help in that process, and throw a little...
That's assuming that they're willing to change the cup design, and I don't think they are. If I'm reading bad correctly they're only really talking about making changes that don't require them to retool. Wick material and the amount of it might be all we get.
p.s. Even if these "new, softer...
#1 I'd LOVE some of those new, softer plugs if they'll work with the existing R4's (can you get some samples?).
#2 Would making the coil loops bigger (to accommodate extra wick) affect the resistance of the coils - or are we stuck with just wrapping an extra strand around the existing coil...
Ok, here's my imput: :)
IMO the biggest problems with the current R4's are wick performance (especially with the filler ring installed), leaking (with the filler ring removed), and general QC (short wicks, stained wicks, etc). It looks like they're addressing the QC issues to some extent now...
Blowing "smoke" is part of the mind game. Without it quitting cigarettes would have been a lot tougher for me.
Edit: Frying a turkey today so if something goes horribly wrong look for a video tomorrow! :)
I'm sure it's been mentioned (and br can probably give the post #), but I have a simple theory why the bottle mod works so well: Not only is there more wick material in the juice, but the wicks aren't hanging straight down (at least mine aren't in the 10ml bottle I use). Even when the juice...
Hey bad if they'd at least go with a 'thicker' wick that filled the cup slots to the top at least we could drop a flat washer on it and not have to worry about leakage into the air tube.
I wonder if you could chemically treat the wick material to improve performance? Something non-toxic that would keep the wick supple longer and reduce sludge build-up.
I think all the performance issues boil down to the wicks. I don't know if mesh is the answer but somebody needs to develop a "super wick". Something that wicks extremely well and will stand up to repeated cleanings (also gunk resistant).
For THAT I'd pay a dollar or two more apiece.
It's your birthday?? Why isn't it on the front page of ECF with everyone else?
p.s. I think the new see-thru cartos are kinda ugly. (he said as he sucks on a 10ml juice bottle...)
