    If I run over 9 for any period of time with a protank I burn my coils. Sounds like your unit may be faulty to me as well. 6.5 to 7 on Rms is my sweet spot most of the time.

    Grab that piece off one of your extra coils you got with your protank. Then save it when the coil burns out to put back on the new one. I see no need in replacing the coil just because you need that piece to keep it from leaking.
