I also use it to clean my high-fi points and I would guess its ok to clean with alcohol the connection points on the ggts like " buttons-pins-connectors" Here is some ways to clean ur GG you can also use alcohol on thread and connection points just not on the polishing tho... -

Brass is always a better material for conductivity for sure but it won't hurt if you have an SS pin either ;) Depends why you want it? I mean if you need a connector cos urs is damaged ..well get it ASAP -
