I'm not real thrilled about the issue with sorting either and I do not like the alternative. However sphinx search is far superior to the stock vB search engine and also gives you the ability to search in areas you did not have before, for example your PMs are now searchable, pictures and...
it is a well known but hard to reproduce problem in vBulletin. The problem being we have to be able to reproduce the behavior consistently in order to troubleshoot it. Once it is figured out how to reproduce the behavior a bug report can be submitted to vBulletin and they can patch the software...
This issue has been looked at and is a problem with the way vBulletin and Sphinx Search interact, (shinx is optimized for speed and vB isn't) that is why the results don't always sort properly.
Harry did some research and says this is a known issue. He also says there is a solution -- but it...
At this point I'd like to interject and make a correction on some information I have posted in this thread.
Based on a conversation with an Industry source that I trust, I stated that TVECA has an agenda to promote the use of prefilled cartos only. Whether this is a hidden agenda, or the...
if a website is blocked on this forum then you'll have to find another source for your reference link when making a report.
Hint: If we block a site's URLs it is because we don't think real highly of them for some reason or another.
That would be caused by a plugin you have installed in your browser. these usually get bundled with free software or games. It isn't being done by ECF.
lol look at the post areas tab on your profile-- that should be enlightening. Mine is kind of boring because you guys cant see some of the areas that have sucked up thousands of my posts. I'm still not sure if folks are going to like that tab -- if they dont I can have it removed but for now...
I think Harry has knocked off for the day, they were at it at from at least 3am today. I'll let him know that there is a sorting issue with the "My Posts" search
I think I made it clear earlier I have no responsibility, need, or even a want to be "classy" or "nice" when people promote conspiracy theories or accuse ECF of something without having any basis for the accusation.
In short if the situation warrants I'll be blunt and call a spade a spade. It...
thats odd tibs. I just looked at mine since you posted this. All of my posts are sorted properly - by latest post. can you send me a screen shot so I can look it over and pass it up to harry?
yeah I just posted a reply to the thread because i couldn't go to the last page either. If we can ever figure out what exactly causes this and can reproduce it we can bug vbulletin.org about fixing it. Right now the only info we have is that it is the first post on a new page and we can't...
It is a glitch we've seen before in the past and have not been able to recreate accurately enough to either fix ourselves or request a fix from vB. Let me try posting a blind reply to the thread and see if it solves your issue- it usually does.
Whether you agree with SJ's decison to announce the Launch of AEMSA on ECF or not, the fact remains that SJ can and will announce whatever he thinks is interesting or important on ECF. That is his prerogative as site owner.
It is not odd to think that If a trade organization of this nature is...
It looks like most of the major work on search has been completed and we've regained full functionality. We will continue to monitor the situation as part of our post upgrade checks.
Oh and a big thanks to John (our server tech) and Harry (our vB tech) for all the hard work today. They started...
It looks like most of the work has been completed and search is working fine. We'll continue to monitor the situation as part of the post upgrade checks.
Harry (our vB tech) is still working on the search function. Part of upgrade process requires him to run some pretty heavy duty queries on the database and will lead to intermittent outages because of high server load. You may also experience some weird error messages as he tweaks the system and...
The hardware upgrades are done, But Harry (our vB tech) is upgrading the search function. Part of this process requires him to run some pretty heavy duty queries on the database and will lead to intermittent outages because of high server load. You may also experience some weird error messages...
just a tip from someone who has been there:
If you collapse a spring check the bottom of the actual firing button to see if you melted it. If you melted it badly enough you will require a rebuild because the button will not properly engage the firing pin.
