If you have a controlled shrinkage clay body yes. Typical ceramics I will come into contact with are a range of shrinkage, like say 8-12%, but this is for throwing on a pottery wheel. The kind of clay I use will fully vitrify at high fire temps(Cone 9, ~2300 degrees F) but does shrink without...
So these are my technical drawings. Hopefully they get the job done at the machinist tomorrow. Hopefully I haven't messed something up either. I'm bringing my laptop with cad on it just in case. I'm still not quite sure about the O ring groove size. I will talk to my machinist about it. Scuba I...
What is your O ring depth compaired to your size? Is there any way to get the proper size for my 5/8" ID tubing from your 3/4" ID tubing? I have 5/8" OD SS that I will probably take 1/64" off of to allow for tolerance. Does that sound right? Seemingly the O rings and tolerances are the hardest...
ok well I will probably use your split the tube in two pieces with a bevel design and still use two O rings but one will hold the top and one will hold the bottom. I want two for the mouthpiece and lower piece so they don't move, or is this over kill? I won't have a bottom retainer that is why I...
That is pretty much what I have. I am using 3/4" OD 5/8" ID polycarbonate. 5/8" 304 SS 4 piece was much easier to design. Making a mouth piece that is comfortable and with the right hole size seemed like a chore. This is my pretty much finished CAD drawing. The screw is the negative terminal...
I am a ceramicist and have thought about it. The problem is shrinkage with most clay bodies. If you buy a special clay body from laguna clay co or another clay supplier they can make minimal shrinkage clay bodies that work well. Also if you use certain clay bodies they will fully vitrify and...
So i can't decide if I want to make the top cap one piece or have a drip tip plug into it. I want to design the mouth piece in but I don't know what size I would want the ID/OD of the mouth piece to be. I think having a drip tip plug in would be way easier.
I think I'll try acrylic. I want it to be clear, polycarb would be expensive for the top cap. Thanks everyone. I've been beat from doing work maybe tonight I'll finish my drawing and post some render pics. Trying to see the machinist/teacher thursday.
Dan that sounds kinda hard. Do you roll it a little then bend it a little then roll a bit more?
I made a mod like yours with a Ce2 but I think it doesn't wick properly because there is no ferrule tube. I don't know I'll post it some other time. Right now all my e-cig mod effort is going into my...
Nice let me know how this goes. I would think this could be done with the right sized washer, a spring, and a bolt.
as of now my plans are to use a set screw with two nuts as a negative terminal, and an O terminal with a small nut and bolt through it as a positive. I'm about done with my cad...
Good job raidy! I am excited. How can I buy you a beer? haha :) or a couple. You are already near finished with another amazing new atomizer and I am just starting to build a genesis. Woops, it will tide me over I suppose. Can't wait to see what is under the hood!
Cool idea, I might I have thought about doing that but hopefully if I set it up right I won't need to change kanthal so much that it is an issue. I also think you would need a pretty heavy spring to keep a good connection and that might be a pain.
Does anyone know what the hole size is for a...
Well the first time I checked it said 10 25 50 or 100 foot spools.. Then it said ten ft per spool, that's why I said 1$ per foot. I just checked now and it says 50ft per spool. which is far more reasonable. I might actually go this route. Although I am going to be making a couple for friends so...
That's a dollar per foot. This is like 1 and 4/10 of a penny per foot. The way I figure it ia I could provably go through 70 ft of kanthal in my lifetime so by then thos will be more cost effective. Plus I'll be making a genesis for a couple friends. So I'll probably sell a couple 100 ft spools...
I sent the Kanthal company an email directly and they said they don't sell anything under a 50LB spool of what I was looking for. So they gave me the name to two other companys that sell smaller amounts. I emailed them they their response
Jeff,
We do have 32 ga. KA1 wire available. We...
So my parts are in. I'm still wondering what thickness I should make the upper piece where the kanthal will be heating I was thinking 1/4 inch.
How much wick do I need above my coil?
Also what size hole is typical for the air inlet?
The nice thing about what I'm doing with mine is that the friction from the O rings only holds the tube in place. Not the whole assembly. It also makes running one of the connections much easier. I'll post my CAD drawing as soon as it is finished.
When I said Terminal I ment the kanthal terminal. My plan was to use a set screw with two nuts for one terminal and either solid copper wire for the other. I was planning on just using one of the 510 terminals from another atomizer for the battery connection. When I have a decent draft finished...
