So, here's the thing. And I'm not trying to be flip here... If you're generally speaking, recreating the coils that came with your device, plus / - one coil wrap, and its vaping well, you're doing it right, and doing it safely. Unless you vastly stray from the tried and true, you'd be hard...

OR, more likely, there is a short causing the juice to boil. Check for shorts, if there are none, pinch the top of the wick closed. Solid 500# mesh wicks have many fans, but I still prefer 400# with a small paperclip sized hole down the center.

The stiff draw caps were not an "option" but were an entirely separate item to be purchased (while available). So, depending where you got your original ZAP, its unlikely you got a stiff draw cap by intention (if you bought it via the classifieds, anything is possible). Can you post pictures of...

Heck, the whole topic used to be intentionally taboo. Back in the day, we'd take a good whippin' for mentioning the "O" word. :) "W" only stood for wraps, not watts. Ahh, the good ol' days...

Safety can be taught in many ways, not all of which require a meter. IMHO, if you are running a stock set-up in a Zen~ device (32g kanthal, 4/5 wrap with insulator, 3/4 on a thicker wick in an anodized Zen~) you're going to be pretty darn safe. I'm much more concerned over the recommendations...

Agreed, the quality of the vape drops consistently before reaching a safe discharge level for me as well.. I left my meter on about a month ago, battery in it died, I haven't bothered replacing it yet if thats any indication of how often its needed IMO..

Have you checked the resistance of your leads / are you subtracting that from your reading? 3.9 ohms sounds awfully high to be vaping well. My guess is your coil is fine, you're getting a bad reading.

It's a coil problem, I promise. Something is off requiring a "perfect" connection through the switch.... How many wraps of what gauge are on it? Skinny wick with insulator? Take off the positive screw, check for juice, dry, and screw it back in.

2.7 ohms seems high, what do you normally run? Make sure both connection screws are tight? Tug the coil just a little to make sure the leads aren't broke or weak?

Blue Line (real one), very hard. MFA, very hard at anywhere near original price. If you're willing to donate organs, several have come up.
