I tried to print one with rounded corners and the print warped a little. I'm working on building an enclosure for the printer and that will help keep it from warping. I'll post some more printed mod pics tomorrow showing size comparison.
Also, to address a question that has been asked since I started building mods... There is a bottom feeder mod in the works right now. I will be using the printer to conceptualize the design, but will be made of wood in the final stages.
That could work, but soldering to a magnet is tricky. They can easily lose their magnetism with excessive heat. I tried building a wood pipe a while back using magnets to hold the lid where the magnets were also the switch legs and couldn't for the life of me get the magnets to maintain their...
It just seems more convenient to me to put a mod in a stand and it charges, Similar to a walkie talkie. And maybe the stand could have a spot to hold a few batts or something. Maybe custom stands with your name printed into it or something. The sky is the limit. :)
Not this time around. My idea for the charger is to put studs on the bottom of the mod and build a charging stand for it. Unless the onboard micro-usb charger is more convenient. Still not sure how I want to go about it. Im definitely open to any ideas around the design of a printed mod.
