    You are correct about both. +1 to that....I totally forgot about that big spring. I remembered to remove the battery, but the spring.....Duh. Top caps are more than likely the only thing that got mixed up.

    Both style batteries do in fact fit the device. However, AW said they never made a "flat top". Beware if you have an "AW" that is a flat top.

    Lavatube misfire problem getting worse!

    You could try some "canned air" like used in an office. That would help assuming the problem really could be fixed by blowing it out. If its not that, then I would address it under warranty while you have a warranty. It sucks I know, but its better then having a device you can only admire...;)
