Here is Lewis the koala. He was rescued from the fire by a lovely lady. He suffered extreme burns over much of his body and unfortunately did not survive. :( For those that wish to read about Lewis his story is below - but be warned- for the softies amongst us it is a tear jerker. (If this...

My knowledge and experience with koalas is a bit different to @stols001. Yes, they can bite - as any animal can bit, either domesticated or wild. Luckily, koalas have never been hunted by man so have not built up a fear toward humans. The koalas being rescued are usually very docile - it is...

It goes back in our history when white man first settled here. The rabbits were introduced then became a problem. Cats were then introduced to attempt to eradicate the feral rabbits. The cats then became feral. Over time, with other eradication programmes, and nature taking its own course...

Hey @Susaz! Are you referring to Australia here? If so, trust me, we LOVE our cats here :) "Cats are the second most common pet, with 29% of households owning a cat. There are estimated to be 3.9 million pet cats in Australia; 16 cats for every 100 people". I had a beautiful BIG grey boy who...

Thank you for the well wishes @Rob B. and @AngeNZ and all the Shiny Crew  The fires are absolutely horrific with no end in sight yet. I just read an article that stated: "As of 15 December 2019, the fires have burnt over 3,000,000 hectares, destroyed over 700 houses and claimed 8 lives"...

I've been making friends with this little girl at work. First time I have seen foxes anywhere. We are in drought at the moment and the bushland around my work is tinder dry and the little creeks/streams have all dried up. I guess they are looking for water and food. This little one came...

Thank you! She is a lovely lady for sure. Yet another rescue dog  I can't believe some people can be so cruel - or stupid. I got her when she was about 2 years of age. She took a bit of training but she has become a delightful dog.
