fellow vapers PLEASE HELP!!! I need a 18650 3000 mah battery for my chuck ASAP!!!

First things first, don't buy crappy UF3000s and you'll be less likely to have these problems in the future. Capacity claims are not held to any standards and tell nothing about the quality or performance of the cell in the long haul. ----------- My suggestion would ordinarily be to pick up...

    AW 3v LiFePo4 Battery Spec

I would suggest keeping it under 2A for most LiFePO4 RCR123s. That means ~3Ohm attys on your "6V" mods. Begs the question, why bother? Just do an 18650 mod on a LR atty instead. Same performance.

    Battey Lifespan

Used or not, ~5 years shelf life till you should properly dispose of them. How they are used will be the biggest factor. AWs black label protected RCR123 3.7V cells don't tolerate abuse well. It was demonstrated by a well respected member of a popular flashlight forum that loads in excess of...

Just ordered my first e-cig! Thank You ECF!

Still on analogs.... It didn't make it in before Christmas :( AltSmoke sent a delivery confirmation number on Monday (Dec 20), so I don't think it's their fault. Funny thing is.... I selected an even slower shipping option from Lighthound for the 14500s, they were also shipping out on Monday...

    6volt mod.

Car battery could work fine, just need to put a big ole sand block resistor or a PWM bucking circuit on it first. I wonder if anyone has thought about making an atty designed to run ~12V for direct drive from the "cigarette" lighter plug in the car... wow, what a funny pun of a situation. It...

    6volt mod.

Most cells labeled "industrial" are Zinc Chloride cells. The only reason it may have worked would be the sheer size of the cells (Some of those 6V lantern batteries contain 4 F size cells, some are D size cells.) The cell chemistry has a very hard time delivering even mediocre loads for very...

need help.. Ego with 510 stuff.. confused...

Get a battery mod style unit that you can use good IMR cells in.... The eGo will serve as nothing but a stepping stone engraved with "take another step to get what you really want."

    18650s

Cells pulled from reputable laptop manufactures will generally be pretty decent quality cells from reputable name brands. Once removed from the pack, they are no longer protected cells (the packs contain global protection circuits), so you will need to take extra precaution in making sure not to...

    Do I have a problem?

That's probably because at 3.7V, the cell is only at about 20% state of charge :) 3.5V is basically dead, anything below that is dead, from 3.5V to 4.2V open circuit voltage there is a pretty steady correlation from 0 to 100% state of charge. But WHY would a cell be "dead" if it's still...

what charger to buy for AW IMC 14500 batterys?

The voltage of the cell when removed from the charger does not tell the whole story of what took place during the charge, how it got there, and whether or not it terminated properly. Most lithium cobalt cells are intended to have a charge termination of 4.20V +/-0.05V. (4.15-4.25V). Anywhere...

    UltraFire 18650's 3000Mah Unrealiable?

There's no need for high current (like IMR) cells to drive a 30W bulb from 3x18650s. A good quality 18650 will give several hundred perfectly safe cycles at a ~1.5C rate or ~4A. A 30W bulb would be drawing less than 3A from a stack of 3 li-ion cells. For a modern set of 2900mAH cells, a 30W bulb...

Ok, don't laugh, I just dont get it yet :)

The series of numbers used to describe the cell is actually directly defining the size of the cell... 10440 = 10mm x 44mm, The "0" on the end usually just means that it is "cylindrical." ----------------------------- 08400: Same dimensions as a AAAA cell. Found in small form factor ecigs...

3.7 18650 stops working as soon as I touch an LED light to it ? What the HELL?

I just noticed... Red LED?? A red LED as a forward voltage much lower than most LEDs. The LED is probably fried..

    UltraFire 18650's 3000Mah Unrealiable?

Many responses to that thread about the exploding UF3000s suggest that the series implementation may have been the cause of the disaster. I have been following this type of stuff for years and would be at odds with that position. While the series implementation may have played a role, it would...

    Battery Charger question

Hi Jeremy, Just make sure not to exceed the maximum safe charging current for the cell/s. Best way to charge the cells is actually going to be to wire them up in parallel and set the charger to treat it as a single cell with a termination voltage of 4.20V. Charge current will be split between...

    UltraFire 18650's 3000Mah Unrealiable?

How about a UF3000 exploding in a flashlight... Ultrafire 18650 3000mA exploded ------------------------------------------------------------ Products like the UF3000 would not even be sell-able if people were picky about how they parted with their money and demanded a reasonably quality...

    Stacking RCR123a 3v 900ma Batts overstress?

The "3V 900mAH" tenergy cells are actually undersized RCR123 3.7V LiCo cells with ~500mAH capacity that have a voltage bucking circuit attached to one end of the cell. The maximum discharge rate of ~1A should be strictly followed for safety reasons. This type of "voltage bucked" LiCo cell is...

    UltraFire 18650's 3000Mah Unrealiable?

Obviously an 18650 can't be seriously compared to a 14500 of the same chemistry. It's not a fair comparison because they are dramatically different sizes. See post #17 in this thread: New 18650 with 3000mAh from KD Even at 1A they are down in the bottom of the pack for voltage through the...

    14500 3.7V 750mAh vs. 18650 3.7V 3000mAh
