    Raptor Flip-Top VV Mod with 20A, 120W dc/dc converter...

The primary problem with adding another MOSFET, in addition to the reverse polarity MOSFET, is the space required inside the mod for this extra circuitry. The best solution is a supervisory IC. I was working with that with the OKL2-T20 and what is available for the voltage cutoff we need is...

    Raptor Flip-Top VV Mod with 20A, 120W dc/dc converter...

That would simply be a matter of re-configuring the resistors for the comparator. In my setup, I have the comparator configured to light the LED on low voltage. It can also be configured to turn off an LED at low voltage.

I haven't tinkered with it, but sounds doable. A zener controlled MOSFET gate would also work.

    Arlo - dual 18650 DNA20/30 step-by-step how-to

LOL Steamer - you crack me up :D Good job!! The notched ends have the solder contacts. If you're doing parallel fuses - align and hold both ends of the fuses together (I use tweezers), apply a dab of flux, then solder - do the same for the other end. Then solder a wire to each end.

    Raptor Flip-Top VV Mod with 20A, 120W dc/dc converter...

@ Tinker Ray - great idea using an IC comparator for the batt voltage monitoring. Since I can't use a zener with the OKL2-T20 I'm using the LTC1440 to monitor batt voltage - it has an ultralow 4uA standby current. I wired it for a 6.2v low voltage indicator. If the batt's voltage is...

    Arlo - dual 18650 DNA20/30 step-by-step how-to

YW, Steamer. Evolv definitely has super great customer service. I had this happen with my flat top batts with my Sam mod. If you can't remove the positive contacts from the case to do this, do it very carefully while they are in place inside the case. Scruff up each contact (I use the...

    Arlo - dual 18650 DNA20/30 step-by-step how-to

If you had the same problem as Steamer, nothing is going to change when you get the replacement DNA. If the DNA doesn't get the current it needs to run at a certain power level, it will stop and re-start. That's not a faulty DNA, but a problem with current getting to the DNA. And this is...

    Arlo - dual 18650 DNA20/30 step-by-step how-to

With the DNA stopping and re-starting itself it's telling you it's current starved and not able to deliver the power at the watts you have set. The battery contacts that come with Arlo, and in fact most all battery contacts that come with these cases and battery boxes, are pure crap - they have...

I had a major duh-oh moment there when it hit me. Somebody just shoot me already.

    Raptor Flip-Top VV Mod with 20A, 120W dc/dc converter...

oh wait lol... I think I got what I did wrong. I was only looking at one part of the switch - the Vin-on/off control side. Right - there is current going across the switch from batt + to Vin. So, it does need a rated slide switch unless there's a different way to wire this.

    Raptor Flip-Top VV Mod with 20A, 120W dc/dc converter...

I updated my wiring guide to include a master kill switch. We've found that the zener diode does not block idle current drain, so you HAVE to remove the batts from the mod at cutoff voltage, or have a master kill switch, else the batts will continue to drain past an unsafe voltage. With idle...

There's no difference between digikey and mouser - both are reliable with fast shipping. You can save on shipping cost though at digikey as they offer 1st class and it seems to be just as fast as priority shipping for me. Sometimes one will have stock and the other not. 4.7K is a common value...

    Raptor Flip-Top VV Mod with 20A, 120W dc/dc converter...

@ jtwalker78 - the wiring guide in the OP is current - any changes I make to it is automatically updated as the pic is linked externally. I gave most of the part numbers for the parts I used for the build in the OP, plus gave the part number for the zener and the recommended P-FET and some...

    Raptor Flip-Top VV Mod with 20A, 120W dc/dc converter...

Not that I'm aware of and there would still be the idle current drain at the on/off control. Bypassing the on/off control has its advantages and disadvantages. Without it, we don't have that idle current drain and have to use a rated switch. With it we have at least some undervoltage...

    Raptor Flip-Top VV Mod with 20A, 120W dc/dc converter...

Charging or removing the batts from the mod once they reach the cutoff voltage is definitely recommended or if you're not going to use your mod for a while, remove the batts. Or install a rated master on/off switch and remember to use it lol. The zener protects the batts from undervoltage by...

    Tinkering with the OKL2-T20 20A 110W dc/dc converter...

You could use whatever parts you want if you have the skills for it and a custom PCB. I just haven't taught myself the skills needed for proper reflow soldering. I understand it's pretty easy using a frying pan or oven. And this is how tiny it is... pins 1,2,3 are less than a half mm...

    Tinkering with the OKL2-T20 20A 110W dc/dc converter...

The low voltage detector IC for UVLO is too teeny tiny for me to work with. I ordered 3 different ones and they are all too tiny I can't even mount them on a stripboard as the pins are too close together, so they require a proper PCB to mount on. I'm doing the next best thing then and...
