I'm not a fan of the cartos either. They all taste funky after a few fills.
Even if you prefer RBa's, a pre-made atty can be a good backup to have around.
Seriously. Building coils is just not in my wheel house, and it's something i don't want to be bothered with. But I love Hybrids. They look cool and sexy. Everything about them makes me want one, except for the whole building coils and checking ohms part.
I just know how it is used around here. I may well be wrong in the wider scheme of things. :)

Bottom coil and bottom fed are 2 different things actually. A bottom fed atomizer, in the context I'm familiar with, is one with an open post that can be used on devices like the Reo or VMod. A bottom coil is just a horizontal coil on the bottom of a clearo or carto.

There are several, but most of them are no longer in production; have limited production runs; or are overseas. Check the Liquid APV forum for more info.
In the States, you're pretty much stuck with the VMod or Reo unless you really want a high-priced bottom feeder.

If you have the tools, equipment and knowledge then a RBA is perfect for what you want. If not, then just grab a disposable atty and clean it out between uses.
