    Ethyl Maltol crystals question.

If you have this stuff great! I would say a small set of digital scales, again cheap on ebay are essential. As for all the rest as a formally trained chemist sure I would love to have a small lab in my basement, but seriously, a hot water bath, a good regular shaking, and a *little* patience...

    Robert's Hongtashan #4A

I really wish I was more versed in the taste characteristics of different true tobaccos. As a youngster I worked for a while priming tobacco, as anyone who has ever had to do that can tell you in no uncertain terms you might (probably?) during or at some point later pick up the cig habit...

    Ethyl Maltol crystals question.

Not to be pedantic, but well, to be pedantic, 1 mL of pure water has a mass of 1 gm. PG is close enough not to matter. 1 mL of PG has a mass of 1.04 gms. But when you get to the glycerin crowd like me, it is different. 1 mL of glycerin has a mass of 1.26 gms. But then again I think...

    Robert's Hongtashan #4A

No, these TobaccoExpress descriptions are very informative - "Modelled after the most populate cigarette" I think is how each is described lol. I have had reasonably good experiences with TobEX flavors, so I basically ordered a 10 mL of I think if not all, close to all of the Chinese series...

Flavour Art- MTS Vape Wizard- A must for tobacco blends.

I add a drop of FlavourArt Vape Wizard to all my mixes but to be perfectly honest I am not real sure why. When my bottle runs dry I may just abandon it. It does not seem to hurt what I think (to my tastes) are my better blends. It has not exactly performed any real wizardry on any of my...

    Ethyl Maltol crystals question.

I strongly agree with the poster who said get a scale. A small set can be had on ebay for a song, and I would not use anything else. I suggest you make 5% solutions. The MSDS/Tech Data on EM states 7.7% solubility in PG. I use 50-50 PG/VG, the solubility in that is much lower. I make ~5%...

    Robert's Hongtashan #4A

Robert's Hongtashan #4A Been absent for a while, figured it was about time I sat down and put out a recipe. This is a nice medium body smooth tobacco with no weird flavors and a nice definite kick on the finish. Vapeable immediately does not need lengthy aging, but you will want to have aged...

    Sugar?

They put boatloads of brown sugar in cigs. However the heat of the cigarette carmelizes the sugar. None of the attys I use at least get nearly hot enough, and sugar itself is not volatile, although the PG/VG could entrain a little I would guess. I have tried brown sugar without good...

Can I use vanilla extract in ejuice?

I would suggest getting a Vanilla flavor from the vape market instead of using regular cooking extract. A little Ethyl Maltol will also smooth out a flavor and add a little sweetness, as will caramel. I also like a variety of creams - Bavarian Creme, Sweet Cream, Fresh Cream. But start off...

DIY Flavoring Thread - Part 2

Actually none of these are synthetic (except the PG). Here is what they taste or smell like: Vanilla - Uhmm vanilla. Malic Acid - tart green apple. Damascenone - Rose, I've never eaten one and can't tell you what they taste like. I would guess it varies by variety, Yellow Rose of Texas...

    Volumetric measurements of solids...

I did GC/MS for EPA for CLP 8270 and 8240 mehods. DIY does not require 5 point 20-160 ng calibrations etc etc. I use scales for solids because it just good practice and cheap and easy. Volume of solids is highly variable based on technique, crystal size, etc. I also agree that people believe...

Need sugestions for toning down floral notes.

Flowery and peppery are the biggest complaints I have with tobacco flavors. Aging does help some, but generally if a favor is too flowery for my tastes I just look for something else. FA Virginia is not one I have found to be flowery, but TFA Flue Cured is definitely very floral. Also, just a...

Need sugestions for toning down floral notes.

When did this start? I have always had good service from them, but have not placed an order in maybe 5 weeks.

    Volumetric measurements of solids...

I actively promote use of weight for all solids. You can get a small set of jewelry scales off e-bay for cheap. It does take a little technique but it is mostly about being patient and disciplined.

    Robert's Virginia Flue Cured #10

Yeah taste is very subjective. I have a few new additions: TobaccoExpress MLB - OK, not worked with this one much but seems OK, a little pepper but not as much as TFA MLB. TobaccoExpress Turkish - OK, a little strong and slightly floral but not incense like DesertShip. FlavourArt 7 Leaves -...

    Best Vanilla Flavoring?

I don't know if it even does anything, lol, but I put a little Vape Wizard in everything. MTS is the same thing as vape Wizard , I think all these "smoothes" are probably about the same stuff, although I did try "Magic Mask" once or twice and did not like that particular one.

    Freezing 100mg nicotine base

Storing in sealed dark glass bottles and breaking one open into smaller working bottles is definitely the way to go. See my blogs for storage tips for multiple liters of nic including a ghetto air purge. But as mentioned, the PG and/or VG will have some dissolved Oxygen in it and you cannot...

My First DIY - Not So Great

Join the club. It is hard to find good tobacco flavors. I've yet to find one that tastes like just good old basic tobacco. Now I am happy with anything that does not taste like patchouli or incense, lol.
