Yea I too have several things I will run if the computer starts acting wonky. mostly I don't usually have any problems but ever other blue moon or so my wife will manage to find one lurking somewhere. Malwarebytes has always been one of my goto scanners for these problems. All the odd little popup and add windows only showed up in chrome. Nothing in IE or firefox ( I use IE a lot and the wife uses firefox to help keep our windows separated ;) ) Mb didn't really find anything else related to...- harmonic

I had lots of adds and little pop up thingies and it turned out there were several "extensions" installed in chrome that I knew nothing about. removed them all and things quieted down quite a bit. Ok I found this for chrome and it seems to be working pretty well so far for fixing the background colors: Deluminate - Chrome Web Store it has several customizable settings to invert the screen colors. with the low contrast setting enabled i have a dark gray instead of completely black... -
