    I actually did consider steeping it like that first, but I'm all for quick results when I can have them lol. I saw someone explain a similar procedure on another site and figured I'd simplify it and give it a go. Mine wasn't too strong as I mentioned, I wonder if a longer steep like your idea...

    You should always get to know your single flavors before mixing them to be able to better troubleshoot issues like this. Usually though, a perfume taste is due to over flavoring. You can try leaving the lid off for a day to see if you're just really sensitive to the chemicals that will evaporate...
