On average bi weekly. Yes if they are dirty noticeable drop in performance plus depending on how dirty hot button issues. I clean my Mechs with Wrights Copper Cream mostly and for my pure silver I use Wrights Silver Cream. I like it because Wrights because it does an excellent job cleaning... -
Vape wick cotton
If it ever came down to it you can find Cotton or Rayon everywhere, boil it and have ample wick material. Hell I'm sure if it really got bad there are those that would use dryer lint ;)- r055co

I believe you need to check your resistance table, SS is lower resistance than ni80 . As I stated earlier it's a balancing act of wire mass and resistance.
