It certainly does sound feasible. It does make it much easier. e-cigs can't be advertised for that purpose though as the required clinical trials haven't been done.
It shouldn't last longer. Two batteries with the same mAh rating connected in series (as the CR2s are in the GG) should have the same lifetime as one of those batteries on it's own, so if the CR2s and the AA have the same mAh rating they'll last the same time.
