RDA First RDA, First Dual Coil Build

I bought my first driper the other day. A Derringer. Did my first build this evening, also my first dual coil. Went for 28g, 7 wraps, 3mm, 1.5 ohms per coil. It came out .84 ohms. So close enough. :) Left the Derringer air flow wide open, put in some 6mg juice, and found the sweet...

Help with Heat Flux, Power and the whole sub-ohm thing

I did make an error, it should have read: A: 28g, 3mm, 4.5 wraps, 1 ohm, would give a HF of 178 at 10w B: 26, 3mm, 3.5 wraps, 0.5 ohms, gives a HF of 177 at 10w. The heat flux of coil A and B are almost identical at any given watts, so don't these coils produce the same heat, vapor, results...

Help with Heat Flux, Power and the whole sub-ohm thing

Yes I did, didn't I. :) But for different gauges of wire.

Help with Heat Flux, Power and the whole sub-ohm thing

I'm sure you're absolutely right, but I don't think I've got a handle on the relationships between HF, Power, and Ohms in terms of vapor production and temperature.

Help with Heat Flux, Power and the whole sub-ohm thing

I'm going to make this short: My preferred coil in a Kayfun v4: 28g, 3mm, 6.5wraps, 1.46 Ohms, gives a Heat Flux (HF) of 122 at 10 watts. I'd probably be firing this at 9watts most of the time (juice dependent). A: 28g, 3mm, 4.5 wraps, 1 ohm, would give a HF of 178 at 10w I thinks this...

    RTA vs RDAs on flavor?

WARNING: TEMPORY TREAD JACK If you're a Castle Long fan you really should try in on the Kayfun v4. I've been amazed! It pulls out and highlights all the flavour and the balance and complexity becomes stunning! Best vape I've had so far. I can't bear to exhale, I just let the vapour swill...

What is this other mouth piece I got with my Nautilus mini?

I have four Nautius Mini's. None came with additional dip tip, or black dip tips. Where did you purchase yours?

    Vapor Flask

So Vapor Shark will be selling their Vapor Flask from the 20th June 2015, and for just $189 USD! I took a look at the website and am a bit confused by the finish. It says their VF is still made from aluminium, but talks about a rubberised finish? Really don't understand what that means. Why...

    Vapor Flask

Thanks TKS, I've had the VF for almost a week now, and have had the time to compare it with images on the internet. I'm now convinced it's authentic. I found some images of the same model in the same colour (Gun Metal), and they were absolutely identical, including the fonts, spacing, vent...

    Best Kayfun v4 clone....or original???

I've been using an original, zero rattles, silky smooth threads, fantastic flavour! It is a bit fussy about the wicking. But now I know how to do, it's a great vape every time. Sounds like your clone is a poor replica, although others seem happy with theirs. Perhaps you just got a bad one...

Tried re-wicking for the first time

I've just gone through this - see my post 'At My Wicks End'. Took me a few weeks to get comfortable with wicking my Kayfun v4. I almost gave up. Couldn't belive how bad it tasted. Now I can't belive how great a vape I'm getting. Post some pictures of your wicking without juice. I'm sure...

Thank you guys, you were spot on! Just took me a while to realise. :)

    At My Wicks End!

Update Bump: One happy vaper here! :) I've made several new builds and or re-wicks now, and it's all good! Getting a great vape out of my Vapor Flask - Kayfun v4 combo. I completely gave up on the method I saw on You-Tube; combing and fanning out the tails, cutting them precisely to tickle...

DNA40 Wrong Resistance = No Temp Control?

Yes dry burn without cotton. I put the VF in temp control mode, then 1 click up from either 300c or 600f reads OFF. So I'm assuming the temp control is then off. But when I went to dry burn the VF powered off and said Temperature Protection on the screen.

DNA40 Wrong Resistance = No Temp Control?

It was a Temperature Protection lock, and not a Temperature Control function. I'm not entirely sure how related these two are? I was fairly confident that I'd turned TC off, as I've only been building with Kanthal, and the screen is only showing Watts, Volts, Ohms (no temp), and I remember...

DNA40 Wrong Resistance = No Temp Control?

Thanks Pocha, if it becomes a problem I'll try that. Although I've gone this far without joining Facebook and hope I never have to. :) To be honest I bought the VF because I love the form factor, and I'm still very happy with it. I wasn't really planning on using the temp control. I've heard...

DNA40 Wrong Resistance = No Temp Control?

I've never put my VF DNA40 in temp mode, but in VW mode it is far from accurate, normally about 0.8 ohms under as mentioned above. I have verified this by carefully measuring lenghts of wire and putting them on a top end volt meter before making the coil, reffering to steam engine to confirm...

DNA40 Wrong Resistance = No Temp Control?

It would be great if that was it. I'll have a look when I get home - I'm at work with another setup. Are you saying I could be pushing too hard on the spring loaded 510 pin built into the VF, by screwing the atty's on too tight?
